Anyone else experience social distancing issues with their fridge while working from home?
How about people successfully avoiding the snack foods calling out to them?
Im working getting back on track with Keto after some hiccups. Seeing the numbers on the scale creeping back toward 200 has made me realize I need to refocus. It was definitely easier when I was 20 miles away from the fridge.
Time to get back to the steady downward trend from last fall. Hopefully posting this will help maintain some virtual accountability.
I have unintentionally lost around 12 lbs :(
No gym, no big meals, no appetite.

I was in the hospital for about a week not too long sgo- got some pretty ugly though not insurmountable news, and had to make some radical life changes....so all the snacks are gone. Can't eat em if they're not there.
I've been eating like crazy since my wife had the baby. People keep bringing us food. I was afraid to step on the scale until this morning. All the getting up and moving around to take care of the baby has paid off. I have lost 4 lbs since early May.
I don't do Keto or Paleo or any of that. I eat what I want, when I want, in moderation. I also get on my Peloton and mtn bike at least 3-4 times (usually more Spring-Fall) and sweat my butt off.
I think restrictive diets just make it harder to control the volume of caloric intake, which is ultimately what matters. Your body doesn't care where the calories are coming from, just the quantity. So choose something that works for you...

I think Iknow where the OP's lost weight has been going. If I made a graph it might look something like the inverse of his.
I've added a covid 15 or maybe 10...
Just signed up with Noom today for their managed weight loss plan. Currently free to try (there's a recommended donation and a 30 cent ? fee that you can't escape. )
but i'm trying it for 2 weeks. Want to actually retrain my brain to lose weight and think about food differently. We shall see. This is literally "day 1", but it seems likt the regular reinforcement will be a good thing.
not pushing this, but if you're interested: Use my special link for 20% off when you sign up here: https://friends.noom.com/YTQ2RzcyOVg4OmNm
that gives me $20 towards mine only if you decide to go past the trial period. I'll try and keep you guys posted. For today, I steered towards a cheesesteak sub (with LTM) and then dropped to 1/2 of it saving the rest for dinner. Normally I would have gotten something MUCH heavier. (stuffed pizza loaded with all the meats. Almost like a pizza upside down on top of another pizza. So yeah, tracking what I eat should keep me focused on "is it worth it?"

I've lost about the same. No vending machine at home and I don't really buy snacks. Most of my meals are smaller too.
My morning basement training routine is about the same but with no competing time requirements, my weekend bike rides have gone from 90min-2:30 to 2-4+ hours.

It doesn’t get easier with age, I still have remnants of my sympathy belly from when my wife was pregnant with my son. He’s 23 now.

I found a keto approach worked for me and helped me feel full longer and snack less.
The keto doesnt require a big change from what we would normally do for meals. Actually at this point it's really a change in the snacking that's needed most, since meals are still healthy.
Meals are typically a protein (beef, chicken, pork, fish) with vegetables. The main change was replacing rice or potatoes with broccoli, cauliflower, or other fresh/frozen vegetables.
Snacking did change, but for the better, eliminating processed carbs and sugar. Dipping into the kids pop tarts, goldfish, and chips while working from home has been a big part of the gaining.
I need to get back to the garage gym and using the heavy and speed bags, and other interval training during the week and hitting the trails on the bike on the weekend.
The change in my schedule due to the apocalypse has allowed me to be nearly perfect on my morning workouts. I think I missed exactly one day last month. I've lost weight to the point that I'm at or near my personal low point last summer. And by that I mean I'm about three pounds lighter than my porky holiday weight.
Excuse me, I need to go eat some breakfast!
When lockdown began, I lost about 15lbs (off 265) with no intended effort. Some might have been worry but generally my work has me on the road. I attribute the loss to no "road food" lunches as well as keeping away from restaurants at dinner time too.

I am extremely interested in your results with Noom. I have seen there adds and even took there profile questionnaire. I just could not find any real info on what the program actually was and at the time the $$$ commitment was more than I wanted to give them with what I felt was a lack of information about what I was going to be getting.
The free two weeks I think is going to get me to try it!! Thanks for posting this!!!!
Sorry, still too short for my ideal weight.

So far, there's been a "don't weigh in" day 1 (signup day), meal tracking, weigh in first thing in the morning day 2, and more mental stuff than real change.
That said, it already has me eating (and drinking) more mindfully. An actual coach (or a surprisingly good bot) has reached out to me for follow up, and my day 2 weigh in was where I expected my starting point to be. I did sign up for the meal plan & exercise plan (though I'm right at the border where they offered to refund me the exercise plan part because i'm currently that unfit).
Supposedly it takes 30 days to change a habit. This program is looking at taking me from 325 pounds now to ~245 by next February, adding muscle & stamina. It has great tracking built in, and tools & people to keep you motivated when you lose momentum / motivation. And by reinforcing healthy habits, helping me STAY there.
I have nothing constructive to add here.... but I will say that every time I scroll past the title there is an "R" missing in my mind that makes this a completely different topic.
Been strange for me I am down about 13-15lbs. Some of that is my wife dragging me out running more, as I'm a 3 day runner mostly. She is getting me out 5-6 consistently and I'm up about 8 mi/week. Good news. Bad news is I haven't done any strength stuff at all as our home gym is body weight only and I can't really get into it. I just keep doing push ups but not helping. I may need to get set up soon as I use the gym at work and I am likely not going into the office at all for awhile.
When I worked from home last year, I lost probably 20-25 pounds. I think depression had a lot to do with it as I knew layoffs were coming. Gained a bit when I started at the new job, but not too bad considering they had tons of free snacks. Since WFH again, I've gained back that 25 plus more. I don't think I'm eating that much more, but think it has a lot to do with lack of movement. My back pain reinforces that theory. I'm in so many meetings these days, there are 3+ hour stretches that the only time I get up is for a quick bio break or another water.
By the end of the long day, I make dinner and am wiped out. Trying to force myself to move more, but the back pain makes me want to just rest, but resting makes the back pain continue. Sigh.....

Haha. Great minds think alike.
When all of a sudden my wife and I were both home all day, we started introducing the German tradition of "Kaffee und kuchen"... Coffee and cake at 3:00 pretty much every day for a while. Plus the general mayhem knocked me off the structured training schedule I'd been on.
Also, pretty sure I didn't used to buy cookies or boxes of Cheez-its so often.
It hasn't been a huge weight gain, but we've knocked off the every day cake, and I'm going for a ride right... now.

What do fidges have to do with this?
I'm a through and through hedonist. So I don't typically keep snacks in the house, because I know I'll eat them.
I had been starting to lose weight before this started, but have put that 10 back on the last couple of months. I know it's lack of activity and depression. The pandemic, my lady with RA on two different suppresant drugs, me also being at risk because I'm carrying too much weight.................all this definitely hasn't been good for my mental health.
But I'm trying to get out more in the new-to-me Miata with top down and enjoy the sunshine.
My girlfriend started a new job last month as she graduated with the BA in Marketing. Now she has to be back in an office, and has basically said, berkeley it. I'm not staying locked up in the house anymore. So Lowe's for plants, Pharmacy, grocery store, ROSS, etc, she's doing it.

More people need to understand this. I'm pretty self-disciplined, but if I'm near an open can of mixed nuts, it makes the endangered species list like right now. Same applies to any vice. The closer you are to temptation, the more you are tempted.
Drinking too much? Leave the beer on the shelf at the store. Snacking too much? Don't buy snacks.
Everyone has cravings. The trick is to make sure that what's available is a healthy(er) alternative to the not-so-healthy ones.

The issue is when you live with someone who is the opposite. Me ex would buy a package of some new flavor of oreos just to try one of them. I would polish off the rest of the package within a day or two
Thankfully that didn't really impact my weight, but it was definitely unhealthy. Being single I have complete control over my pantry contents and its better
