Up until I was about 14, every Friday/Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon consisted of public skating in the winter, and roller skating (around the arena with no ice-for you southerners) in the summer. They played music over the sound system, and in retrospect, whoever was in charge of it must have been a huge soul and R&B fan. We were very musically active in our house, and I love progressive music, but have a real weak spot for early 70's soul and R&B music.
