I was trying to fix a gate on a house I rent. I know but it was supposed to just a quick job where I just tighten some screws. 20 minutes later I walked into the Er with a screw sticking out of my index finger. Yeah it was dirty and rusty. I nearly pulled it out but wife yelled at me.
Learned a lesson. Don't work on junk you don't own.
Pics or it didn't happen.
I think you were using the screw wrong.
Just unscrew it?
... and a tetanus at Med Express
I... I can't even wrap my head around how 'tightening some screws' went so spectacularly off the rails.
This thread delivers.

Power tools? This looks like the work of power tools.
i find the lack of a hinge or something on the screw in your finger disturbing.. i can only deduce that you decided to screw it into your finger because you are one of those transabled people that think they are supposed to be disabled, and thus decided to injure your finger in the hopes of having it amputated or something..
Was there an extra comma on the instructions?
Did it read "Put screw in finger, tight"
Instead of
"Put screw in finger tight"
Any how, ouch.

That screw is much too short to effectively secure your hand to anything.
Rule of thumb is 1.5X the thickness of whatever it is you are attaching.
(See what I did there?)
Heal quickly.
When I get a splinter that's too small for tweezers like that I usually have to wait a couple days until it starts to fester and then it pops right out (a trick my mom taught me). I suppose you could take that to the "professionals"....
The wood on was screwing into was rotten and I was using my hand to support it. I did not realize how rotten. The screw broke the lattice on the gate and entered my finger. Whoops.
The doc was so grossed out by the state of the screw he put me on mega antibiotics cause in his words. " that this is gross you will get a bad infection from
That."
I guess as a side bonus. I just met my deductible for the year.
I applaud you for the fact that a picture of this noteworthy incident exists. Thanks for sharing.
I have the screw. I'm going to make it into desk art.

This was my first thought as well. And there's very rarely a good reason to use power tools to drive screws, they can do so much more harm than good (this thread being a prime example).

Smart move, the flesh already looks pretty green around where the screw went in...
Did you strip out the head of the screw trying to back it out of your finger?
Wish I had a pic-worthy injury but lately all of mine have been internal; re-torn left pec (only a little), grade 1 or 2 separation of right shoulder and busted right foot.
None nearly as thrill inducing as driving a screw into your finger. That'll wake you right up!!!

Be careful, apparently that screw will make the desk rot.
Hope for a speedy recovery.
