I have been having an extreme craving to get rid of my Fit and pick up a GTO as a DD. The Fit would be great for my g/f, but for someone who just needs a bit of power on his 100 miles of driving a day it is not cutting it. I'm wishing I would have went GTO in the first place, but it is looking like I can get almost exactly what I paid for out of the Fit even with 3k miles.

Comments, suggestions, point me in the right direction oh-so somewhat wise ones...

DO IT!

The GTO is such a great car and depreciation is your friend in this deal. John gets 25-27MPG easily (gotta love a .5:1 overdrive in the T56) and it goes 13.0's @ 108 STOCK! I still want one really, really badly...

I also say DO IT...

GTO is a great car, and depreciation on them is killer, so they are way cheap for as much car as you get.

Keep the Fit.

If this were a year later, I'd say "sell it to me and buy the GTO", but I still say--keep the Fit.

It sure made sense last summer.

Life's too short to drive boring cars. Get the GTO. The highway mileage is good enough to justify even if gas prices spike, and you're getting a great deal on a used car instead of eating the depreciation of a new one.

i'm going to go completely sideways and recommend a mazdaspeed3. its a little more useful (more space and a hatch) than the fit, and almost as fast as the GTO (mine has gone 13.8 @104 with an intake, accessport tune, and corksport motor mount inserts). depreciation is your friend here as well, with 07 sport models available for around 15k, and GT models with leather, HID, etc. for not much more. on the highway i can knock down 27-29 mpg, and i did 29 in mixed driving once on the cobb economy tune.

since the fit is a new car. You're going to lose some money in the deal. Be sure that you can justify the $$ lost vs the fun.

I'd say keep the Fit. If the power isn't doing it for you, you might want to take a look at a Kraftwerks supercharger.

Actually, Fits aren't de-valuing.

A 20k mile example can still fetch close to $15k. Supply and demand is a bitch.

+1 There is nothing like a supercharged economy car for having fun and messing with peoples minds.

If you're going to do this, I would wait untill gas is above $4.00 again. Your Fit will be in demand more than the GTO.

yea, someone just traded in a Fit today, an 09 with 6k miles on the clock and my chitty dealership gave them 16,500 for it, which means they'll sell it for 17,500. This means if I were to trade mine in I'd break even and wouldn't lose anything, maybe even gain a buck or two. I'm gonna try and sell it privately first, my g/f is actually trying to get rid of her Aveo and then take over payments on the Fit...in her name of course.

She doesn't see my justification...."you already have a V8, fast car, that you almost kill me in every time we go out in it. " I simply reply with "It keeps your ass in check."
