The tires on my '02 Chevy 1500 have some age on them and will probably need to be replaced soon. Anybody have any recommendations for a 235/75r16 half ton truck black and round? 2wd truck that's going to mostly see highway miles and part time tow rig duty.
I just got these for my van and only have about 250 miles on them. They have done fine towing and seem to have decent traction on gravel. They are a bit loud with the windows down but the radio easily drowns them out even at low volume.

I think the Michelins are generally regarded as the best if you are blessed with the talent of pooping $100. bills. I have no such talent, so I went with the B.F. Goodrich Commercial T/A's on my Dooley. Recommended.

Even when I didn't have the money to do Michelins I went with Michelins. 70-80k on a set of tires, great traction, and no issues with towing or loads made it worth it.
Don't make 'em in the size I have now so I've got Cooper Discoverer's on there right now.
Really can't ever go wrong with Michelins
Just adding another vote for the Michelin.
Last set I had was Defender LTX M/S got a full 100k miles from them on a GM 2500 4x4.
Tire Rack currently has them in your size for &672 free shipping. My local place will generally sell Michelin for Tire Rack prices once you figure in the mounting and balancing, and free flat repair I get.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT. Deep tread, but rides pretty smooth on the road.
Edit: Looks like the XLT option isn't available that small. I don't know about the non XLT models.
Walmart has crazy cheap prices on the "standard" Cooper Discover AT which I couldn't find available at any other tire store (only the newer compounds AT3 4S, AT3 XLT, etc.). Probably not ideal for towing since it isn't an LT tire though

Example we just got 235/75r15 for $75 a tire:

N-th supporter of the Michelin LTX, have them on my 2500 for probably near 75k and they are still pretty great.
I've been running Commercial TA's from Tire Rack, no complaints.
