I just refuse to spend 1000 for a used generator. I almost bought one from home depot. But some shiney happy person got the last three right in front of me.
I am thankful I do not use ac.. or I would be suffering. I did rig up 3 5 gallon buckets on the roof for hot water. Painted them black and by the end of the day, the water is nice and warm. I do miss the internet. And I am getting sick of peanut butter

Well we got power back early on the 5th day at the house, now for the shop
Somehow I doubt I am going to get power today. It is thunderstorming and then they are calling for heat indices into the low hundreds due to high heat and high hummidity. At least I work tonight
We were out for 2 1/2 days. I hate cheap generators. Spent the entire time babysitting a generator that couldn't maintain constant speed or voltage. Neighbor rented an inverter unit that was whisper quiet and chugged along for days. I'm getting one.
Going on day 5 now.. they are down to less than 60,000 folks without power (when the local paper went to print last night).
People around me are starting to take matters into their own hands. Guy down the street rented a bucket lift and cut the tree out of the way for the electric company.
Everyone is cranky.. a lot of people are realy mad.. this better end soon or it wil not end well.
In the county I am, it is down to only 30% without power. Across the river in Ohio, they are at 38%. It looks like I will have no issues driving back to MN at the end of the week. My Bro-in-law got power back last night.
Driving around today... I am in the last batch to not get their power. Everything around me has power. I am literally a 10th of a mile from power....

status update?
Grand-mother-in-laws place got power back last night. That is good. She has congestive heart failure and requires oxygen. She normally uses an oxygen concentrator, but had to borrow some bottles from here brother. We had to evacuate her up to my in-laws house since they got power back a lot quicker. We left there yesterday and are now back home in MN.

power for me was back late thursday.. internet came back late friday.
And the ironic part.. I had no work the entire week the power was out here.. but now that it is back.. I am doing 60 hours this week (We get our hours a week ahead of time)
Mu shop got power back on Sunday, that was 9 days. Maybe we can get back on track now.
