Alright it's a little after 5 am I have been up for a couple hours and just had a weird idea. I was thinking about my small collection of Cutlasses and what I should do with each. I pictured the project finished and what it will look like then I realized the one parts car essentially already looks like a beat to hell faded version of what I want to end up with.

It was then inspiration took hold. What if instead of using that car as a parts car it became a companion to the first. The post doomsday version of my street car. Basically think of the Mad max car's transformation from the first to second movie.

The first car is clean and refined everything matches and looks how you would think a propper modified street car should look. Basically build it exactly how I have been planning.

The second car is scared and battle damaged (though still fully structurally sound). Maybe a mismatched set of wheels, a different stance, a long whip antenna and extra fuel tanks. Get rid of the trunk lid and use it as open cargo with full sized spares and the like. Maybe do some beefy fabbed up steel bumpers. Extra lights. Gut the interior and make it look like it's been lived in for years on the road. Ditch the hood cowl and have a scoop sticking out of the hood. Heck maybe raise the body a couple inches and put over sized tires on instead. Bust out the plastic grills and replace them with steel mesh. Basically make it look like the car was pieced together as it fell apart is the post doomsday world. Maybe even a few bullet holes in a door panel or something.

It would be funny to put them into a show together as a set.

Alright going back to sleep now if I am lucky.

This is the one that will become the after car. Already has a damaged driver side fender and a hole in the passenger door. Add a few more holes to make it look like it's been shot a few times. Add some more dents and dings here and there maybe and find a way to incorporate that chain in the front bumper...as I think about it I have nearly all the parts I would need to make this work. I would just need to put in a different engine as I only have one 403. Maybe stick the Chevy 350 in. Or I do have an Olds 350. From the outside it looks just like the 403.

I was just outside taking the dogs out and noticed the 35-40 gallon steel pressure tank sitting on top of my pump house. It was an old one that sprung a pin hole leak last summer. Maybe locate where the leak was bore a hole, clean out the tank, add a flip top filler cap and make a holding tank for the trunk/cargo area?

Bonus points if I can make it safe and function as either a true fuel or water storage tank.

Hmmm mount it in the middle with spare tires to the far outside then a jerry can on each side of the tank between it and the tires...

Sleep deprivation gives me odd ideas and makes my mind race.

Don't forget the home made roof rack for spares and such.

I'd say just prep one as a performance street car, maybe Solo2, and the other for something akin to overlanding.

Like this only beat to E36 M3:

I like the roof rack idea. Also a good place to mount some extra lights.
