I could never be a cop. To try to make those kinds of decisions in a split second... I. Sure I'd get some wrong too.

I know some have speculated at how implausible it would be to be charging a cop after a wreck. Someone described being all but unable to pull a glove off because of a concussion. Ok. But as counter point, I apparently got back on my motorcycle and rode myself out to the road after mine. One isn't always rendered unable to move simply because of a concussion or even serious injury.

Adrenalin is an amazing thing. With adrenalin to kickstart the fight or flight response almost nothing is implausible. The kid apparently broke his way out of his wrecked car through the rear window and traveled a sizeable distance, it seems to me that was adrenalin kicking in after the trauma of an accident. That coupled with the disorientation most people get after being involved in an accident to me it's no wonder he charged the cop, I think he was scared and desperately looking for help. Of course I have the benefit of MMQBing the situation and not having to make a spit second decision, I still believe the cop should have exercised better judgement and not emptied his sidearm. But that's my opinion and we all got one.

I'd argue you didn't have a severe concussion then (not trying to start a pissing contest).

I was unconscious long enough they red flagged the session. If you've never had your bell rung that hard, it's impossible to explain.

12 shots fired, 10 hit the guy. I wasn't there, I'm not a cop, but ....

The deaf often have a horrible experience with the police as they can't comply with orders they don't hear. It's a huge problem in the deaf community.

There are good cops out there. They are trying to help. I was told years ago by a retired city officer is that the problem is with the training these days. He stated he was trained to de-escalate a situation and listen to the individuals involved. He survived. He said in these modern times officers are trained that everyone is out to kill them, end of story. All their initial reactions are predicated on that training. The first encounter they have with just about anyone is treated as if the person they're talking to is a horrible serial killer who lusts for police officer blood.

I wish we'd go back to having peace officers who wanted things to be quiet, calm, and had respect for their fellow citizens.

Along the same idea...Did you guys see this?

I was lucky not to have hit my head in my serious accident but the adrenalin was incredible. With my collection of broken bones I was able to drag my fat carcass out of the car and call 911. Since I was in the middle of nowhere it had worn off by the time the police came and instead of appearing aggressive I was just crying on the trunklid of my car.

I had what I believe to be a concussion playing football with friends when I was a kid. I rode my bicycle home about 2 miles afterwards. Once I got home I didn't remember riding home or even what series of events happened that day.

They charged him with manslaughter. There is dashcam footage, but AFAIK, it isn't being released to the public. Thus far the race card has stayed out of it, and I hope it will.
