Oh.....that one. I know which one you are talking about. Not a fan. I'd pass personally. There are enough small runways in the area that the demand is not really that high. That's why it's an attractive price.

Which one are you talking about? Because this one isn't on the market but there is another one that is near satx that is and for a lot more money.
It's the one off 281 where corky use to do testing on that runway for his turbo kits. Not too far from where his old shop was there. 29.748587488268182, -98.42807329805397 is the coordinates, Right?
Is the other one you are looking at the Medina River Ranch? That is a MUCH nicer airport and draws the high dollar folks. Between that and the additional hangers that they built at SATX and South Terminal ABIA and the private executive airport in Austin, there is a ton of private runways in the central Texas area.
One came up for sale locally a few years back, it had a grass strip, a few buildings and a small terminal with a snack bar. The current owner lived there and had 2 rental cars for people who flew in. I thought it would be a great retirement deal, live out in the country and whenever someone flew in, sell them some coffee and a sandwich, rent them a car and hangar their plane for a weekend.

No sir its none of those that you mentioned. But, 29.748587488268182, -98.42807329805397 is in Bulverde and that's a nice area that's growing fast. And I never heard of Medina River Ranch. I probably couldn't afford those lol.
I'm only looking at one. I was talking to a friend about finding some land in the SATX area and they connected me with this current deal. And with this deal I am mostly interested in the land but the runway is an extra bonus.
I just happen to know of another one near San Marcos that's mid 6 figures. But, I can't afford all that and don't want anything like that at all.
Also, who is Corky? Lol
yupididit said:What would you do with 5 acres with private runway access? It has electricity, sewage, and water available. Zoned residential.
What would you build?
100' x 100' garage, and invest in a pallet of 18" traffic cones. Y'all are invited.
I have seriously toyed with this idea. Buy an old airstrip with 10 buddies, host racing events, small campground, no planes allowed. (ok, maybe I'll have a plane or two)
I would jump on it. I know of a few like that in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. One guy has a car repair business and his wife's two airplanes in a really big hanger. Nobody ever bothers him. Even if you don't have an airplane, you can have an airplane hanger sized garage and the neighbors won't be complaining about the building or the fact that you work on cars in there.

Corky Bell of the now no longer in existence BEGI. He demoed a couple of different miata turbo options on that strip.
Three of our club members live on the same road, there's a 3,000ft. grass strip behind all three properties. It's intimidating the first time you land there, but my God is it handy! If I didn't have a pilots' license, I'd consider some powered hang glider!
In reply to bmw88rider :
Ohhh my buddy and fellow GRM member used to work there. Makes sense cause he lives in/near Bulverde.
What are the monthly homeowners fees to keep up the landing strip etc .
and if you desired to use it for "testing" how do you notify the other owners not to land on your test !
Good luck

You could always be a dick and put a big X at the ends of the runways.
I'll repeat my dream for my ideal retirement community. Smaller private airfield with plenty of WW2 style hangers retrofitted with upstairs apartments (ala Dirk Pitt style), or, a couch and a hot plate. I'm easy. Cars on blocks allowed. Drag racing on the strip every evening at sunset. Jam session to follow. Must be a 15-minute helicopter ride to a major medical center.

That's step 3. I have to finish my Midlana build before starting to build a new vehicle!

Best berkeleying movie.

This doesn't look at all like anything I'd envision or want to experience lol
My good friend (also a licensed realtor) went to check out the property and runway the other day. He met one of the neighbors and from his conversation with said neighbor, I have decided to pass. Ain't no way lol

Was the neighbor wearing a pointy white hood?
