Camper and rv sales are through the roof

bikes are gone from stores.

Campgrounds sold out. Vrbo sold out. Airbnb slim.

It's just the way it is with the stay at home stuff going on.

Yeah, we've been looking for Kayaks. There is nothing available we want under about $1300 each.

Or tandems.

It's crazy.

All the hobbies are just...gone. I can't get bike parts, none of the shops I frequent have any completes, all the RC car stuff is GONE, gaming is absolutely blown apart- consoles are selling on the secondary market like it was christmas. It's a really weird time.

I imagine it is a mix of people diving into hobbies from working less due to the current situation and a shortage of supply because hobby stuff is "nonessential" so not being built due to shutdowns. But that's just my guess.

I'm picking up another boat this morning.

Sort of.  When China shut down there was a massive disruption in the supply chain and it's taken forever to get it restarted and realigned. This combined with an unprecedented increase in people being bored and stuck at home meant they decided they wanted a new bike and/or their old bike fixed.  I know a few shops in the NJ area and they have been operating flat-out since March. Their new bike inventory has been decimated - like nothing in the shop under $2000. Some shops with even less stock than that. And repair work with weeks of back-log.  And they're blowing through parts for repairs faster than the suppliers can ship them. They keep wondering when it'll slow down, but it hasn't. It's insane.

Maybe only the hardiest of boaters wanted to be on the Delaware in 90+ heat, but the one ramp I stopped at during my ride yesterday morning had pretty light traffic. But here in SE PA, they are starting open things up so folks have other options to amuse themselves now.

Nice looking boat.

I have seriously considering buying a shamrock, never pulled the trigger. I like the simplicity of the Ford 302, and I have rebuilt a couple, so it seemed to make sense.

They aren't known for their soft ride, one of the SeaTow operators I knew used to call them slamrocks. That said, they would probably feel good to me, I've owned Boston whalers and they'll beat you up in a chop.

Motorcycles selling like crazy here from what I've heard.

motorcycle parts prices on Ebay are NUTS right now.

They are known for the wet and fairly hard ride. That said, I'm a fair weather boater and won't be fishing off shore with it so it won't matter much to me. I despise, outboards and I/Os aren't something you want to leave at the dock for long periods of time in saltwater so I've been looking for a straight inboard for a good while.

Then add that plenty of middle-class people got a stimulus check they didn't really NEED, so they likely blew it on things they wouldn't normally buy.........like a new Kayak for instance. At least that's my thought in conjunction with the supply chain disruptions.

I'm one of the people that went out and bought a boat - in my case, just a $150 inflatable rubber raft in the hopes that would cap how much money I'd be throwing into this hole in the water. I don't have nearly as many places I can take the kids for the weekend with indoor options and public pools pretty much off the table. We can spend a couple hours paddling around lakes at local parks, and if we don't maintain the 6' social distancing requirements out on a boat, something has gone very, very wrong.

Can't do much right now but cruise, boat, and camp. The 4th is coming up. I think it's pretty refreshing. Last year we broke free of the big firework shows where you sit in a big crowd. Instead we went to my parents where we got out my dad's big ass 12 foot pontoon boat, I got the kayak out, and we scooted down with the other boats where we could chill on the boats and watch the fireworks from the like. It was nice and different.  Totally worth buying a new boat for.

It was definitely better than watching the fireworks between the pig wresting and the demolition derby.

I bought a sail boat a few weeks ago. It had been on the back burner for a while as a future hobby but the pandemic meant our spring trip south was canceled and any other vacation travel for the rest of the year unlikely. So with the  family cottage on Lake Huron being the only destination for a while it made sense.

I ended up with a $1000 15ft 50 year old Albacore on a nice trailer that needed just a little bit of fiberglass work. That happened this past Thursday  along with figuring out the rigging and we had our first sail on Friday. It handled the larger than anticipated waves decently well and seems like a good boat to figure out this sailing thing on before hopefully moving on to a Hobie 16 in the future. Luckily the marina in Point Clark is pretty quiet so there was only a few spectators on our way back in as we paddled through the inlet into the wind and back to the dock. I'm looking forward to getting out on some flatter water

We need a boat and kayak section just like the motorcycle and bicycle section.

I am about ready to re-do the floor on my Bayliner and I would like to find a Kayak.
