I'm not a big fish fan but the best I've had are at Ted's, a small chain near Albany NY.

Previously, some version of #11. With current lady friend, #4. They are a tasty sammich.

Apparently natural peanut butter on 100% whole wheat since that's what I have most often.

I'm really on a veggie sub kick lately, and a ruben is a fave, but I want a good french fry poboy fully dressed, or a muffaleta soon.

On the other hand, I recently learned that the Chicago Italian Beef can be had fully dipped in au jus and given a hefty load of giardinera, and there's a vegan joint nearby to sell me one. They have my attention.

Combo sandwich. Take an Italian Sausage, put it on a French roll, add italian beef, drown it in au jus, add a heaping pile of greasy spicy giardinara. I prefer Luke's, but Portillos has a great one and I can probably throw a football and hit 7 places that do it admirably as well. Good Lord do I love Chicago food.

Now, that can change on a given day. Today the runners up are as follows:

chorizo taco

slider

oklahoma burger

bratwurst

polish sausage

reuban

bojangles breakfast biscuit

nashville hot chicken sandwich

gyros

It would be easier to pick a least favorite sandwich, probably. I love a lot of different foods that fall under the sandwich category.

Lobster rolls are so good and I crave them a lot, which sucks because I do not live in Massachusetts. But there's a franchise of lobster roll food trucks that serves a good one.

Grilled cheese is a classic and one of the few things I can cook myself and not screw up, so that's a plust.

Turkey and provolone is really good.

Philly cheesesteak? Yes please.

A good spicy chicken sandwich is hard to beat.

Breakfast sandwich? Make mine with sausage, egg and cheese.

Meatball sandwich! How could I forget those?

Pepperoni and provolone with marinara sauce and black olives from Sheetz. Hmm. I might have to go get one of those for lunch tomorrow.

Cold cuts? Deli sandwich? Italian? I will get cravings for any and all of these at various times.

I've been known to enjoy a Reuben on rare occasions.

Egg salad sandwich is a guilty pleasure. Tuna salad too.

I guess what I'm saying is...I like food a lot, and a lot of food comes in sandwich form.

Some of the gigantic sandwiches posted above may taste good, but I'm not eating anything that requires me to dislocate my jaw in order to get it in my mouth.

My needs are pretty simple - if I had to, I could live the rest of my life on peanut butter and jelly.

Pretty much everything on that list looks good except the seafood ones - just not a seafood person - as long as it was made with good ingredients. I also like a bit of variety - if I had French dip one day, a falafel sandwich is going to look better than another French dip.

I have no idea what Tonkatsu sauce is. Now you have me curious as to where I can find that sandwich here.

My favorite is my next one!   Sorry.

I like grilled cheese with tomato slices, a sprinkle of Basil and sometimes a hint of crushed red pepper.

Hard to beat a legit BLT with fresh home grown tomatoes and lots of bacon.  Otherwise i'm in on the turkey club, italian, or pulled pork

Softshell crab po-boy, dressed (slang for shredded lettuce, tomato, mayo, pickle slices) .   Only place to get good one is South Louisiana.  No one else can do the po-boy bread or softshell crabs the right way.

2nd choice is a toasted Muffuletta - a New Orleans Sicilian immigrants invention.

I'm a fan of a good, deli style Reuben. On rye, of course. Also, naturally, a pulled pork sammich but the slaw to pork ratio is crucial and the quality of slaw is often overlooked. Pulled pork, as with a reuben, is tricky to find outside of bleh chain-style places.

Hawaiian toast

This sandwich was invented in the 1950s by Clemens Wilmenrode, the host of one of TV's first cooking shows.

Despite the name, the only thing Hawaiian about it is the pineapple, which is complemented by the taste of ham. I often make it after work and play [canoe chicken] on my laptop and pamper myself.)

that's a heck of a canoe you're paddling

As much as I enjoy a nice sammich, I've tried to cut back lately, and eat less carbs and more veggies and lean meats.  Just replace the bread with a nice bed of greens--you'll hardly miss it.

Does kind of make it hard to eat with your hands, though. wink

Good thing I'm reading this thread at lunch! Ruben or cheese steak is my go-to. Lots of great choices on that list, meat cheese bread and dijion, can't go wrong.

Reuben, then Montreal smoked meat, then patty melt on rye, then a non-philly cheesesteak.  Philly cheesesteaks are awful.  Go ahead, get mad, but they're terrible.  Greasy, bland, doughy, and horrid.  I've had them all.  DiNic's, Sonny's, Ishkabibble's, Geno's, Prince, 4th St.... they're all junk.  I searched hard for all the famous and most original cheese steaks in Philly and it makes me wonder how they ever got popular.  Thank goodness the rest of the state took over and actually made them worth eating.
