Eh... I changed mine a little while back so I could rant a bit more freely, but looking into it since the underlying account name stayed the same it didn't do too much good- a Google search of my username nets the 'Readers Rides' for two of my old cars (ironically not the two I still own ) so there wasn't much point to it so I changed it back. Only a few people likely care though. Likely won't be changing my avatar for a very long time though- it's just about perfect for me IMO.
I'm ok on the Google search. I am by far the least important
Me. I got tired of looking before I found anything.
Even adding my employer brings up my father instead of me. https://xxu4.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/long-island-bus-privatization-has-challenges-2/
It's the downside of having had to come up with a fairly unique username and having used it a LOT over the last 20 years. It's delightfully ironic- if you Google my actual given name (even using my middle initial), you don't come up with any results in the first 10 or so pages that are actually me. Image search is somewhat better- but there's still about 50 pictures that come up before one of me (that's rather old it looks like).
On the other side- Google my username and EVERY single result that comes up is something related to me, though interestingly the first actual picture of me (that is very, very hard to even tell IS me...) doesn't show up until later in the image search.

type my full name into google and you'll go dozens of pages before you actually find anything about me … I've actually NEVER found anything about me typing my name into google …. it's all about the father/son politicians from the Raleigh area … walter b jones

Well, TLNXTYM was my license plates on my 94 Eclipse which has been gone since 99. I just like it. By the way it means TiL NeXt TYMe. Yes, yes I know time is misspelled. Otherwise it'd say "till next tim". And that just doesn't make any sense.
google alfadriver, and there are a bunch of other things that use that. Page 2 finds my CM profile, but the next one seems to take a while.
When I first got the name, it was the beginning of a lot of opportunity for the pretty common name. Now lots of people are using it.
I'm very happy to see The Brown Stig avatar being used by someone else

You know you misspelled that, right?

Looks like I put nervousdog's afro wig on the brown stig and the GiantPurpleSnorklewacker back in 2010. See, there are good things to be found in the Ignore thread.

Wait really? REALLY???
Mind = blown.
I've been around long enough that I recognize all of those.
Me, I've always been Knurled. (Here anyway) (Well except for that other login that I forgot the password to and don't remember what e-mail address I used for it) Knurling is a process done to increase grip on a smooth surface, such as on tools. It is also something that used to be done to create raised sections to increase the OD/decrease the ID on worn parts like pistons or valve guides, so as to extend their useful life. A labor intensive way to save a few cents. It seemed... appropriate.
In reply to Knurled:
Yes really.
Well except for Beer Baron, he was Salanis. He is not nor has he ever been Slefain to the best of my knowledge.

It's like shaving or growing a beard. Sometimes you just want to mix it up.
If you can wake up in a different city, a different time zone... could you wake up as a different person?

So, now I'm curious as to how many here use the same username on other forums and if I might have run across anyone in other corners of the internet. My user name was my xbox name back in the day when I had time for fun and games so I've just kept it and use it wherever I go. I don't really post anywhere but here now although I used to be sort of active on the tdpri guitar forums.
Different name on every forum. I have settled on "noisy cricket" or some variation thereof for most automotive forums, at least.
Well, come ON. I have been playing with RX-7s since 1998. If the RX-7 were a firearm, it would be the Noisy Cricket.
Truth be told, I've always been Appleseed. People in real life have called me that in person because of my HAMB association.
I was reading a lot of Manga at the turn of the century, so that's were the name came from.
I blame Shirow.

So is this the user name origin story thread now?
Mine is the name of a Miles Davis ballad that's written in 4/4 time. I needed to pick a username and my music book of jazz standards happened to be open to that page.
So now you know... And your lives will never be the same.
My original name was nicksta43. I had a buddy who always called me nickster, so I shortened that and added 43 because Richard Petty.
I then changed it to my real name so I would hold myself accountable for all the nonsense I say on here...that hasn't worked out the way I planned.
This thread explains how it evolved from there

I'm afraid of what people dig up if they Google this s/n. Some pretty legendary bannings no doubt (I believe I hold a record for the time I got all of united healthcare banned from 6crew or club or whatever for the time I made all their senior members look like idiots at the same time. They got so pissed they banned every IP I'd ever been associated with. That was a lot of them. )
What the hell is my avatar? Is it still the bumping kosher giraffes? Nope. It's the slayer sign I left at the baby store. I'm sort of a professional troll.
I am aussiesmg on all the forums I am on. I have used that name since around 1995 when I opened my first email account.
I think I could safely change it though, seeing as I type with an accent, but I wont because I wouldn't know who I am any more.
My avatars change each time I bring something new to the challenge
My username came about because my college nickname, Ash, (of which I think only one person here may know the full origins of...) was unsurprisingly always taken when I started having to sign up for forums, message boards, etc. back in the mid-90's. Since I was heavily involved in the Japanese animation (anime) club at my school, I decided to 'Japanese-ize' it yielding (wrongly- the 'y' probably shouldn't be there...) Ashyukun.

Professional indeed, my hat is off. I just spell rude things with the alphabet block tissue boxes at Target.
My user names:
Quasi Mofo - the hunchblack of the motor damned
Harold Thong - call me Harry
HalFast Racing - yes
HalFast Neon - for a minute
JmfnB - I sign nearly all emails this way
Muffin Man - the verbalization of JmuffinB
I imagine that there are more
