We had torrential rain this morning. She hydroplaned into the oncoming lane and hit a Semi head on. Killed on impact. Not sure why I'm sharing. Just have a heavy heart.

Hug your loved ones and make sure they are driving on decent tires.

Just awful. I hate to hear stories like that although it happens often. Very sad. Enjoy what you have.

Jesus. I’m so sorry. And yeah, friends don’t let friends drive on E36 M3 tires. I learned that one the hard way once.

I got caught in it on my way to work on the bike. It felt like the rain drops were the size of baseballs.

We had another system roll through at the end of the day and after what happened this morning the wife decided I wasn't riding the bike home.

I didn't argue.

While I had no issues I very well could have been on the receiving end of someone else's mishap. And while I mostly accept the risks involved with riding a motorcycle I really don't want to die just trying to get to or from work

It kinda shook me up a little more than I would have thought.

My condolences.

Let's also remember that the best of tires have their limitations.  There are times we need to slow down when conditions warrant it.

There's a gruesome dash cam clip somewhere of a big SUV loosing it on a highway and going head on into a semi. The SUV is not crumpled up like tin foil. It is not kicked way up into the sky.

It just disintegrates. Like instantly millions of little pieces.

It is a very freaky thing. My condolences.

Nick,

I'm sorry for the loss your wife and you suffered today. I definitely understand being shaken up from the day.

I came up on a bad crash on I-80 East in PA last Friday evening. I jumped out and helped the person who was in the accident for a few minutes (with two other good Samaritans) until the EMTs and ambulance arrived on the scene.

It was tough to tell exactly what happened, a small Ford sedan (Fiesta/Focus) looked like it rolled several times after it left the highway. It wasn't clear if the driver was ejected from the car or stumbled out on rheir own. Somehow, one of the car seats was thrown out of the car during the accident, thankfully there wasn't a child in it.

It was wet, raining pretty hard, foggy, and we were going down a pretty long hill with a 70 MPH speed limit. There was another car inthe median about 1/4 mile before I came upon the car that rolled, no idea if the second car was involved or not.

Modern cars are pretty amazing and capable, right until they're not. Seeing the aftermath of that accident was definitely a wake-up call for me.

Sorry to hear that.

I guess any car head on with a semi wouldn't fair well, but  do you know what kind of car she was driving, if you don't mind me asking?

I drive a semi and my biggest fear is that I will not be able to avoid killing somebody someday.

I hope the family is holding up. The loss is always devastating.

Sorry for your loss. Tires just got moved to the top of the list on my car. They're 8 years old and starting to show signs of dry rotting.

Yesterday was certainly one of those times. It was coming down the hardest I've seen in my lifetime.

If there is any good news to be had she had just dropped off her five year old grandkid.

I'm very sorry for the loss to family and friends.

My new girlfriend was traveling home to visit family, so I checked her car and bought her two new tires. Later on, she told me that's how she knew I loved her.

Our 24th wedding anniversary is next month.

Cherish every day, and be careful out there.
