As a true Canadian capitalist, and power hungry user of all the fossil fuels I can burn, I have absolutely no problem with Harper.
I happen to have a bias against all politicians. They are all out to do what is best for them..
Who I really hate is; The Voters.. Especially the ones who are a member of the team.. This isn't a Hockey game, a Football Game or any sort of game at all. Yet we have moronic voters, that will vote for one party/candidate at all costs. To them it doesn't matter what the party/candidate has to offer. Gotta vote for that party or candidate.
They just vote for them despite being (possibly) a poor choice for their personal interests.. If their party/candidate loses they are upset, like their favorite sports team lost. Difference is the results of this game lasts 4 years...
I am a member of a cottagers association.
If the people in charge of the cottagers association said to the members. Hey guys, we are going to monitor your internet posts, to make sure we get elected to the board of directors next year and you guys get to pay for it with your membership dues. Guess what the reaction would be!!
If they said; we went over budget this year because we hosted a delegation of people from the cottage association one lake over. So membership dues have to double.. Again, guess what the reaction would be!!!
If they said, we are going to invade and occupy the next lake over, because we don't like the snow removal company they are using... You get the point..
Politicians, are in charge of our money, and get to decide how to waste our money..

That is awesome!!!!
in somewhat agreement with drsmooth
my cynical take on politicians is that, regardless of how idealistic they are when first running for office, as soon as they're elected, they find out that their only REAL job is to get reelected ….
of course that means that they have to toe the party line on any and all subjects … regardless whether it goes against their personal beliefs …
if they get on the bad side of the party chiefs, they'll play hell getting the backing of those "leaders" when it comes to money time for re-election
pretty much sums up (in my opinion) why we don't have any cross isle cooperation … no bipartisan cooperation
and given the E36 M3heads we're "allowed" to vote for, I'm almost at the "give up" stage
When my totalitarian dictatorship comes to power, I assure you the world will be a very different place.
I can't guarantee "better," but it will definitely be "different."
