I'm looking for something similar to Novol bodywork primer, which doesn't seem to be available in the US.

Features:

  • Brush-on
  • Dries to a matte finish
  • Weld-through
  • Low-VOC content (nice to have)

Novol dries to a nice matte red, which really helps in seeing imperfections:

Anyone know of something similar?

Tried to find the Technical Data Sheet for the product, but no luck since the site is polish? Not sure.

The English description reads a bit like POR with the claims and they are both epoxy based products with some rust inhibitors. POR is an encapsulant and I don't know what  NOVOL adds to that equation besides using an epoxy to keep oxygen away.

BASF makes a chromated epoxy that actually has a sacrificial component to keep rust at bay, but chromates are not to be taken lightly so there is that.

The material safety sheet and TDS would be a good thing to have when cross referencing products.

Interesting. My initital search led me to the NOVOL EPOXY primer and what you are looking for is the NOVOL BODYWORK primer.  This stuff is water based. It seems to have some reactive chemistry that gets used up after 6 months; wonder how that works?

I must say that I have not seen a similar product.  I was glad to see that it did not have extreme safety measures to be observed, making it usable by us home builders.

Sorry I can not help find an equivalent product, however, if you do, please let us know since this stuff looks useful.
