Next week will be our inaugural "Sips and Straights" event. Participating is optional, however will result in bonus points. Drinks must be declared and topped off prior the start of the race. Once the race starts you will be required to drink as you go down the front straight every lap.
Way on board with this. I think the correct race strategy is to have 2 available and open, just in case.

Cool. I just finished a floating dock repair on a day that everyone with a boat decided they should drive by making the biggest wake possible. Now I can have a beer and claim I am just practicing for the race.
3 screws, 1 deck board, two 3/4" bolts, nuts and washers, a steel bracket, a large plastic piece, a short length of pvc pipe, 2 zip ties, cordless impact driver and bit, 3/4" air impact gun and socket, hammer, drift, crescent wrench, sunglasses and hat. Somehow I managed to not lose anything in the water. Felt like riding a mechanical bull at times.
In reply to T.J. :
That's impressive, I could have done that in my driveway and still lost something.

Just got lucky this time. I find that if I tie a tether on something it prevents me from dropping it, so I did that for the bracket I had to remove and one of the bolts. Things that fall off are sometimes retrievable, but usually disappear in the mud to never be seen again.

Not sure yet if a no stopper or a 1 stopper will be my strategy. I did my longest test so far, running 30 minutes. The tire wear was fairly minimal according to the display, but they got noticeably more slippery as time went on, I think based on temps. The hard slicks are supposed to be good up to 220F (According to Yorkie), but I've never liked them when they get too much over 205F or so as they start to lose grip.
I think Dean has the right strategy, which is try for the no stopper, but plan for a stop for a quick stop if needed for fuel. Depending on how the tires are and number of laps remaining also consider a tire change.
I didn't capture the lap timings to figure out the pit delta, but I think it was over 40 seconds for tires and 10L of fuel, so unless I need to add fuel or just can't keep the car on the track, I think the no stopper will be my first option.
Get your beverages ready.
Bonus points are awarded by alcohol percentage in beverage.

Oh, in that case I may switch away from beers.
Well. My internet crapped out. Hopefully it comes back up in time. Here's my 35 bonus points...
Ugh... 30 minutes to go...

I thought Bulliet Rye would make me drive as fast as a bullet, but turned out it didn't.
What is amazing is how little the drinking and bonus points affected anything. Points are updated.
I now completely understand the two drink Tuesday series.
I will need an end table for my drink next week. Looking down at the floor to get my drink was difficult.
And we will start prototyping a duct tape drink holder driving helmet.

Here is a summary of my race.
I've got the cable company here now replacing the modem, every switch and wire in my house. Not sure if that is helping or hurting my connection.

Looked like last night, even without a button mapped to KERS, the battery would discharge on full throttle automatically. Not sure if I will bother with a button and just let it do its thing.
@ TJ That there is one classy drink holder. ;-)
That race was a lot of fun, though to be honest it was getting dicey towards the end. I was definitely feeling it the last few minutes, and trying to push to catch driver13 required all the focus I had and I was still a bit sloppy. That also made getting past driver13 more difficult as I was having trouble being as precise as I wanted to be, and when door to door you can't afford that kind of variance. There ended up being contact in the chicane on the 3rd to last lap, but the position was returned and I managed a clean pass the next time around.
That said, I'd be curious about Brad's thoughts on the contact in the chicane since he is a neutral third party who was watching. From my perspective I left a full car width between me and the apex of the first part of the chicane and turned in late, and couldn't have done any more without completely parking it or running off track. Then again I wasn't exactly sober, so I don't know for sure how accurate that is. In a lobby race (or if I was sure that my perspective was accurate) I would have continued on without a second thought, but D13 is a good and clean racer and as I wasn't confident it wasn't my fault gave him the spot back.
Hay guys. I was thinking that we could do a missing man formation lap Wednesday to honer Wally and the loss of his wife. I can record it but it would only be from my perspective. It would be much better if someone recorded it from the spectators point of view. Anyway just a thought. Maybe you all have a better way of doing it.

RWD LMP1 should be a fun race. I did 10 laps and managed to get them all in the 1:24's. I thought that may be a decent race pace, but then saw that my tires were toast, so either need a driving adjustment or plan on multiple stops.
Also, Formula X has no TC or ABS. I expect it may take a bit of practice to keep it on the track at warp speed. I did a few laps, but will save it for after Fuji.

I'm actually going to be out for the FX race. Do we want to push, or do you to carry on without me? Either is really fine.
A race league without an organizer is like a foot without a big toe. You are our big toe. Would you want to run a race without your big toe?
P.S. you might want to look into some fungicide
