You guys haven't encountered this before with any other mobile games? I'm pretty sure nearly all of the popular freemium racing titles work this way.
I read that as : earn in game money to buy parts and fuel by racing. If you are too lazy to do that you can buy credits with real monies. Isnt everyone doing this now? GTA5? GT6?
I know the console games are pulling this - my kid got Destiny for xmas and there are whole areas in the game you can't get to without paying for them. Some need a $10/mo service and some are money on top of that. berkeley them all right in the ass.
I shoudl clarify im not trying to defend EA. it really rubs me the wrong way that on top of buying a game you have to buy a $20 online pass if you want to play it online. Imagine my surprise after buying a used game that basically turned into a full price game. Not sure if they are still pulling that crap but im never buying another EA game.

The original part of the game, you can play everything. They just came out with the DLC The Dark Below and I had some gift cards to spend, so I bit the bullet and bought the DLC, it was $20. The next one will be $20 as well.
Call of Duty is doing the same thing. The DLC came out yesterday and it's $15 for it.
