Just so you're not thinking I'm a total idiot, I was referring to the "! detected" thing that pops up when I'm seen, as opposed to the 'yay, points for me' ding when I detect someone.
Patience is a big thing I'm trying to work on, either not pulling the trigger or making damn sure I'm not going to get lit up once I do.
EDIT: berkeley it, I'm done with this.
I'm cutting my losses at a few hours and twenty bucks invested.

I've been there too. It can be infuriating!
Even with my Sherman and a 100% crew and 93% second skills I'd be engaging an enemy, using cover, feints and such and doing fairly well damaging him and not taking any myself when another enemy would nonchalantly stroll straight toward me, knowing I can't pen his armor or even take his tracks off, then he'd one shot me. Just, "Lalalalala... ooh, another kill. lol!"
Another thing I hate is I can be completely hidden (no detection points sticking out) and motionless in a huge bush when suddenly I lose 90% of my health. (This is in my Sherman again, while it was painted camo, coated optics, etc...) Then suddenly an enemy appears, still coming at me at full speed, maybe 200 meters away. I wasn't spotted! How did he know I was there?! That used to really piss me off. Then I started Yolo-ing just to see if I lived any longer. Sadly, I sometimes did.
I haven't tanked in quite a while. It got to the point where I would be plotting out my position so I was close to water, so I could go for a swim in the inevitable event of being outmatched. Take a hit, down to 1% health...berkeley you, I'm gonna Michael Phelps it!
It stopped being fun so I stopped playing.
I had a great day yesterday. I mean awesome. I was the one shot bastard.
The day before, I didn't survive a single winning round and lost everyone I did survive.
I play it simply. I am muddling around in the Tier 3 and 4 tanks, looking to buy my first Tier 5. I don't like Tier 1 or 2 because too many idiots, and those meander up to Tier 3 from time to time. I am enjoying my Matilda and just picked up my first SPG. I have no idea what I am doing with it.
Give it another go. After I get good enough, I might go back and create another account and see what I can do. Right now I am just trying to figure out the method that works for each tank.
the matilda is one of those tanks that is actually good at tier4 :)... I sold mine but have the 2 premium variants and I still have it's crew sitting in the garage in case I need to buy it again for a tourney or something.
anyway to snowmongoose...
these are meant for PC but I think they'll have a lot of info that is cross platform also...

Oh, so I am not allowed to watch the newbie videos because I can at least one shot someone with the Tilda? You only give the tips and tricks to Snowmongoose.
I see how it is! You're just jealous of my awesome avatar and the GGA thread.

Sorry man, I saw your friend request thing last night but was not sure who you were. If you send me another one, I will approve. I have finally got this ricochet thing down pretty well, I was a deflecting monster last night in my KV-3. My T29 is still frustrating as hell with the stock gun....I can track other tier 7s, but to damage them, foghetabouit with the lousy berkeleying 76mm gun grrrrrr. As for snowmongoose, things will get better, getting one shotted sucks even more in higher levels because that a lot of money going up in flames.
In reply to Flight Service:
SnowMongoose is clearly in more dire need of the help :P
Am rocking a certain French glass cannon now, seems to suit my playstyle much better.
t29 with stock gun is a joke... it's the big reason most recomend going to the t20 first and getting the 90mm then backtracking to the t29... the 90mm at least is a workable gun (and the preffered one when it comes to competitive/non pub play)
lol @ flight... was going back to replying what I'd said i'd post the day before... good times :)
In reply to SnowMongoose:
Yeah....I tried the french...have an AMX AMX now...fast, low profile but the gun is at best annoying, their artillery is frustrating to the nth power.
Edit- AMC AMX....AMX AMC....
you mean the ELC?... if so... super fun tank... use it as a stupid fast TD and not a scout... epic camo especially once you get your crew trained with camo... it's one of my keepers... not that I play it all that often anymore but it's fun to pull out
but the rest of the line plays much differently... waiting on the anniversary sale so I can buy the tier9 in that line

Can't do it....I suck at the whole scouting thing, I would much rather be bringing the hate with artillery
Still not convinced this game is a good idea.
Every once in a while I have a good game with the ELC.
Most of the time I'm cussing up a storm and go to bed hating life.
Elc is a scout... Gets bad mm because if that and requires a good knowledge of the maps and tanks you'll fight... Not really an ideal tank for a noob... I've said it before... I didn't touch a scout until 5k battles (outside of the USSR t50 that I had to go through to get the t-34)
In reply to donalson:
I'm an idiot, I thought I'd made that abundantly clear.
I like the ELC when it works... too bad it gets tracked as soon as someone looks at it.
Also, getting blown up via ramming any time another tank touches you, awesome selling point.
Snowmongoose: Play the Russian heavy line. Its sort of like playing wiffle ball with a "fat bat". You won't hit a lot of home runs, but you won't usually strike out, either.

Kazoo knows whats up. A KV1 is a great tank to roll into battle with and once you get into the IS line, the world is your oyster. Also, may I recommend artillery, its great sending hate across the map right into their stupid face. Who else got that special battle thing with the IS-7, T54, Tiger 1 and Batchat where you can respawn with a different tank??? I'm having a hell of a good time with the IS-7 and the Batchat auto loader.
Couple of questions
What is the IS line?
Also, how the hell do you play the T-82? I can not stop trying to do the turn corner and shoot thing like I do with a tank.
Looking for a strategy, I already know what I am doing is stupid.
In reply to Flight Service:
IS= Russian heavy tank like IS3, IS7....great tanks. The T82 is a tank destroyer, hide in a bush behind the main wave of tanks and lay hate down from afar. Basically play the tank as if it has no armor, which it does not, if you are spotted, you are dead, so be a ninja.
I keep trying to move forward.
I still have one of those little bastards, with the 105mm derp on it, its a fun little tank, only if you get the drop on people. Do not move forward with the main pack, like I said, pretend you are driving around with cardboard as armor....wet cardboard at that
Giving it another go... currently getting slaughtered in my T-28.
In reply to The_Jed:
That T28 is quite the POS...but your next tank is the KV-1 which is a very solid tank. Worth the wait.

It seems to suck about as much as the Sherman.
The Sherman is only cool to have because its a Sherman, stick the derp on it and play it through for the M6.
