I have an 06 Eclipse for my DD. When starting it would gnash and grind also throw bad crank position sensor codes. Finally got around to swapping out the starter and found the bushing in the nose had worn out causing the gear to push out of position. It was not easily noticed until I played with it a bit. Just wanted to share in case any one else is having problems.
