That short rear decklid makes it look promising for a potential liftback.
Subaru confirmed that its new 2022 WRX will debut sometime this year.
Official details are light, though Subaru does have a website where you can sign up for more updates.
As far as the teaser photo goes, Subaru obscured most of the car, though we were able to pull out a few more details by playing with all the sliders in Photoshop:
And a closeup shot:
What are looking forward most to in the next-gen WRX? What are you hoping Subaru avoids?

Good eye. It sure would be neat to have a hatchback again–or, dare I say it, a wagon–but I won't hold my breath.
I'm curious, looking at the roofline between where the B pillar would be and the C pillar, there isn't much room and there's even less headroom. Subaru owners are loyal and responsive and Subaru is fairly rare in that they listen to them, even if it means going against what the rest of the market is doing. What I'm wondering is, if they've decided that families are no longer purchasing thr base Impreza and that the majority of wrx and sti owners rarely utilize the back seats for adults. As the rear seat space from that silhouette looks to be somewhere between child only and for insurance premiums only in size.
ugh idk - all the body and hood lines make it look like the current model. Even the mirrors at first glance look the same.
I'm guessing Subaru will claim "+5hp from last year through a revised intake system!" "throatier sounding exhaust" "same interior as the current Crosstrek!"
Subaru has always been the ultimate hype man that underdelivers.

Essentially a bloated Corolla with awd. Should be named "Legacy", and a new, lighter chassis be named Impreza.
