Before the Dodge Neon SRT-4, and even before the Neon R/T, there was the ACR—essentially a competition package for the Neon. Many early examples were equipped with a number of motorsport-friendly items, like adjustable dampers, thicker anti-sway bars, fast-ratio steering and, perhaps most importantly, the dual overhead cam ECC 2.0-liter inline-four.
Forum member florenj’s newest project is an ACR Neon, one of the very few Plymouth-badged examples finished in Nitro Yellow Green paint.
The plan for this old-school grassroots racer? Not race it, actually. Instead, florenj is looking to restore it “with the intent of actually driving and enjoying it.” This project is still in its early stages, although florenj has already had the ACR repainted in its bright shade of Nitro Yellow Green.
To keep up with this unique restoration of an old-school grassroots racer, check out the 1995 Plymouth Neon NYG ACR Coupe – Restoration thread over on the Builds and Project Cars forum.
