That time Crockett and Tubbs chased a Porsche 906 | Video

If you are trying to be inconspicuous, perhaps driving a Porsche 906 at full tilt through the streets of Miami isn’t the best choice.

At least it makes for an interesting chase between a (fake) Ferrari Daytona and a Carrera 6.

Hands down, favorite show evar.  I watch it again and see the complete implausibility of certain things.  Like in the beginning of that clip, they roll up in a really unique car, and Tubbs flashes a badge.  How long will it take for the word to get out that they're vice cops?

Or after a big bust, you see Crockett and Tubbs hanging around the scene with their badges around their necks for all the world to see.

Still... greatest TV show of all time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this. Even when they get the Testarossa, surely someone would be like "Hey I saw that Testarossa and the guy driving it when they busted Johnny No Thumbs. I think that guy might be a narc."

My wife and I recently started working our way through the series on DVD.  The entire premise is absurd, and it's cheesy as hell, but still fun.

Not to mention the new Maserati Bi Turbo.

What's most implausable is that the Biturbo made it the end of one episode before breaking down.

At about 3:45 the Porsche stunt driver almost "bought" a 906. That was dang close to the curbing.

It was time machine LS swapped!

Actually I saw a really nice BiTurbo running and driving in SE Michigan recently.

I do remember that episode from back when it originally aired.  That episode was shot around the Miami GP when it was an IMSA race during the infamous International Marijuana Smugglers Association era.  That episode was also one of the reasons I sought out Miami Vice on DVD via Netflix a decade or more ago.

Side note.  Miami Vice launched in the UK in 85 (not 84 like here).  At which time I was a 16 year old hormone crazy high school kid in Norther England, where a 70 degree day was considered a heat wave and we'd all melt.  I don't think I'd ever seen a real woman wearing a real bikini as the local young ladies were still wearing one piece suits.  Imagine what effect even the opening credits had on myself and my peer group?  Trust me, every episode was required viewing for a group of us.  The glamour of sex, sun, drugs, sex again, cars, clothes, sex, music etc.  It was a life changing show for a kid from a small landlocked industrial/agricultural town.  Good stuff.

I'm also trying to imagine the physics involved of dumping a body from the passenger seat of a 906, never mind one that's moving.

Pretty sure that was Kevin Jeannette.

And also pretty sure that car is the one in the Revs Collier Museum.
