Ever been surprised by how resilient an engine can be? For the Nelson family–a regular competitor in our $2000 Challenge–and their GM Vortec 4200 test mule, the powerplant persevered through 175,000 miles, a front-end collision and multiple high horsepower pulls.
What eventually did the engine in? A broken rod thanks to well over 30 psi of boost.
