Moving soon and need to clean out the homestead. As long as the motor finds its way back to me (or stays behind) the rest is free!
Basic details I guess-
-One known rust hole under drivers seat
-Have title in my name
-Its red, so thats fun too!
Located in Metro Detroit and priced to sell. Im home all week for Big Three shutdown, so PLEASE come take this away from me! ACVW fever is a hell of a drug so Ive got plenty else on my plate.
So you want to keep the engine and get rid of the car? Is it currently running? Will the trans, wiring, and accessories stay with the car? Where in the Metro D are you?

Paging Knurled...
He doesn't have any space for it so that means it would end up at my house. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
In reply to Gearheadotaku :
Engine ran poorly when it was parked, i think fueling issues. But yes, I want to keep the 12A as a spare (because rotary life...). Trans wiring, accessories are all the new owners. Anything past a long block (housing, dorito, peanut shell...whatever ya call it) I dont want. I also have an extra Nikki carb and intake that comes with the car.
Located in Madison Heights btw.

It is the truth.I already have three cars over there.
PS Evan, don't mow the back for a while
BTW - I just realized, this is not an '83, it's a Series 3 so therefore '84-85.

I knew you would catch that.

Who keeps the spray paint cap full of oxidized change?
In reply to Gearheadotaku :
You know you want this. Drop a SBC in it and go to the Challenge again.
In reply to DeadSkunk :
Yeah! The engine is a spare for a Challenge Budget VW Fastback, so itd be interesting to see two parts of the same car show up!
Wait a tick. Is this a S or GS, and not a friggin' GSL?
This could be useful. I can put a gray interior and a new bodyshell in my '84 and put a drum rear in my '81.
Emblem says GS.
"a new bodyshell in my '84"
How exactly does that work? :)
In reply to Knurled. :
It is indeed a GS! and yes, it does have a drum rear! So uhh...come take it away from me, and then return the engine in a month! (one less thing to move)
In reply to Robbie :
Apparently a Ford Transmission engineer with a Rotary problem!

You haven't seen the '84 lately.... it basically needs a new everything.
In reply to Knurled. :
I'll take that as interest! Id love to see the rest of this car go somewhere useful...hence the almost free offer on this forum...
In reply to HippieWagon :
Stop enabling me! I already have a literally free '81 RX-7 (although as far as the Ohio BMV is concerned for taxation reasons, I paid $500 for it, because that is how much he was trying to sell it for) and a practically free '73 RX-3 ($200 for a RX-3 is as next to free as anyone would expect).
How beat up is this RX3? Those are gorgeous cars...major bonus points for a wagon too.
No no no...I got enough problems too!
In reply to HippieWagon :
It's a four door. Pictures at photoberkit.com/Knurled/1973
In reply to Knurled. :
Not too bad! Annnnnyway, you should get all enabled over here to take this car away from me...
In reply to HippieWagon :
As EvanB pointed out, the Batcave is already fully populated so I'd have to store it at his place. Which I already owe him all the favors for storing the RX-3, Most of which is me buying him vodka or bourbon that I tend to drink before he gets a chance to because I am mostly Slav, so not much of a favor. Also the S40). So I can't do it at this time.
I'm running low on non-grass parking spaces or i would try to get it down here.
Would I be able to take on a project like this? Maybe. Only one way to find out.
I shouldn’t even be asking but I’ve always thought these cars are pretty... and so I’ve always wanted one. Also, an ambitious project that already doesn’t run sounds fun. Also, building something for the Challenge sounds fun.
I’d need to find a place to put it. My in laws have a barn and live close. They’d be cool with me taking up space wrenching on an old Mazda, right? Ha.
I’m sending you a PM.
No one else wants to do something cool with this?
I think I’m going to try to drag this home if no one else wants it but I’d be just as happy if someone else got it.
