I sometimes come to GRM just to see if there are more progress pics of this build.

Glad to hear it. Here you go.
Todays progress. Right side rocker and battery mount.
If you decide to run with side scoops rather than louvers, you could still keep the VW Type II theme by using the upper rear scoops (from a 1968 and up Bus) fitted to the lower forward sides of your truck.

Thanks. I contacted the seller from your previous post. The vents should be coming my way soon!
The first of two transmission coolers is installed. An auxiliary fan cooled unit for towing is next.
I'm putting together a fan shroud to mount the twin electric radiator fans. I have some left over stainless steel flashing that should work well.
Starting to look like a shroud!
TeamEvil wrote: Not to intrude again, but it might make for a neat continuation of the theme were you to include the rear engine vents from a split window VW Type II on the side bed sheetmetal. Help cool the engine just a smidge and certainly reference what the factory did with the rear most flank of the Type II. Subtle, but a nice tip of the hat . . .
Got the vents today! Thanks for the suggestion!
Finished relocating the seat mounting points for maximum leg room.
Also making good progress on a dash mounted shifter.
Not to tell you what to do, but . . .
Considering that the shifter is inserted into the radio hole, wouldn't it be cooler if you popped a push button shifter horizontally into the hole, one that totally mimicked the buttons on a vintage push-button radio?

Maybe even pop an automatic tuner radio into the hole and placed the buttons beneath it in the dash to completely mimic the look of a radio ?
Or maybe not . . .

I was actually a step ahead of you..on this one. I looked into it and even looked for an electric shifter solenoid for the power glide, but could not find a way to make it all work. Thanks for the suggestion.

I looked at a similar product and as I understand it, this will only bump up the gears going done the track. It will not handle moving the trans into and out of reverse and park. Thanks for the suggestion

wouldnt that make it a club now? :P way safer looking. though still spookey.
Finished up the shifter mounting bracket but before I install it, I made a small modification. The Powerglide has a transbrake and a full manual valve body, so I will be shifting between 1st and 2nd a lot. The shifter, as it is, allows you to simply push it forward from 2nd into neutral without depressing the button, as most shifters do. But to get it back into drive (2nd) you have to push the button. I can see myself accidentally in neutral, easily, so I modified the shift gate. I drilled and tapped a 10-32 hole in the gate and installed a screw to provide a neutral lockout. Now I just push the lever forward from 1st to 2nd with no chance of winding up in neutral
