I ran my Hoosiers at like 25 to 27 psi at the recommendation of a serious miata autocrosser and 2 of the pros read my tires as properly inflated if that helps. 205/50s on 15x6 stockers. I am by no means an authority but you knew that. I too am sore after "racing" due to bracing myself with knees and elbows all over to stay in the seat. Lots of folks including Keith T i believe, endorse that dohicky that locks the 3 pt seatbelt.
Thanks for the tire pressure tip!
Today, im trying to get dad's corvette finished. At least the wiring.
Taillights to headlights, every strand. All done by me. Im actually really happy with this harness. It may be the best I've ever done.
Im curious to see if anyone seconds my pressure suggestion
Ready for the final push to get ready for the challenge. Next time you see the car will be in Gainesville
I love that color. Such a nice compliment to the car.

Same here! I need to figure out how to get it matched exactly in base/clear for life after the challenge. Its staying.

That's certainly the right ballpark. I ran SM7s at the 2017 Challenge on my Miata and we set them at 30 PSI. "We" meaning I set the pressures where the pro driver told me to. Beyond reducing pressures back to 30 as the tires got hotter we didn't do any other checking to see if they were optimized. I used 7" rims, so that may matter some and the car had a 10" rear spoiler, as well as a front splitter.
You mentioned a page or so back mounting a GoPro knock-off. What are you using and do you like it? Does it interface with Track Addict or anything?

I honestly don't remember what brand it is and haven't taken the time to really mess around with it yet. I remember it was about 50 bucks on Amazon and that included a bunch of different brackets and such to melt it with. Sad to say that I am so wrapped up with learning to autocross that I forget it even exists until after the event and have not tried it yet
Just saw you were in greenville. could have stopped by to get those Mustang wheels back from the Thunderbird build.

I had thought about it about the same time i hit the north Carolina line on the way home.
Really need to get down there for lunch and wheels....
I work from home man, so long as I'm not traveling you are more than welcome. I'm just south of the BMW plant.
I have a ton of Tbird stuff you can have if you want it too. lol.
We are at full blown "damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!" Mode getting ready to go to the challenge.
Feels like a lot to do before we're ready, and not enough time.
I just keep reminding myself that an hour a day is enough, and the car is all but ready the way it is.
So lets talk about life after the challenge for a second.
I was gifted a head unit, component speakers, and taillights. I have on the shelf a full set of autometer sport comp gauges i bought for the elky just before it was totalled. I have an electric power assist steering column from a yaris. Still some parts to aquire (ac system being the biggest, as i scrapped the one from this car like a dumbass) and repairs to make (new oil pan) and fresh tires to get mounted.
But its close to what i want to own. Just need to keep my eye on step one (fun at the challenge, and not being a dick to mu friends and family by getting stressed out) until the payoff.
And this thread is worthless without pictures.
Should i post pictures of the parts/plans for post challenge life, or will that get confusing? I can wait until after. Or start a new thread for after...
Do it here but do it after... Spend your time fine timing that machine for challenge victory!
Im going to be out of commission for the next few days after getting neutered. So, no actual hands on work this weekend, and limited next week. (The car, you perverts)
So, ill have plenty of time at the computer. Plan to finalize the budget (sleepyhead: any luck?), create the build book and team roster, etc.
Car is buffed, waxed, stickered, nut and bolt checked.
Need to prep slicks
Need to clean undercarriage
Need to finish up the mmmpphh mmmph hnng.
Clean top
Clean interior and swap in race seat
Clean windows
Remove flat tow setup
Align
Send it!

Keep it going, but maybe edit the first post to include a table of contents with links to key project milestones.
I love the table of contents idea. After 60+ pages, things become hard to follow.

Yeah, I've got a first cut that's got a $4 discrepancy I need to track down; and some other detail work I want to fiddle with. Should get some more time, now that sleepykid#2 has transitioned into 4day/week preschool... and I'm clearing through some 'official spousal social duties' helping new people transition.
So, the diy spring rubbers don't last. 200ish miles between runsat the autocross and towing, and 3 have failed. So i pulled them. Wasn't sure they were actually helping things anyway.
My new oil pan should be here tomorrow. The one steve and i made still leaks no matter what i do. So i bought a brand new one for modifying. Im going to try to add baffles, the notch, and some kick out wings to this one. Increase capacity and oil control as well as stop tge leaks.
Im working on polishing the glass tge best i can now. Thing REALLY needs a new windshield, but not now. Not in the budget. Its not cracked, so its not unsafe. Just unsightly.
I could finish one thing tonight, load the trailer and head to the challenge tomorrow, but still have a lot of details and fine tuning i want to do yet. But those are not mission critical, so the pressure is off!
I spent 1/10 of a challenge budget today for live after the challenge stuff.
Full tan dash.
Full wiring harness
Full steering column
Gauge cluster
Complete hvac system
90-95 seats
Giant freaking ricer wing
It was a good day!
Even better, this is a 3 3/8 tach/speedometer, and a 2 5/8 oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge. Looks like they will juuuuuust fit in the factory cluster setup. Then, fuel, volts, oil temp above the stereo. Giggity!
Only 2 mechanical things and some cleaning left to do!
Ive overdone it yesterday and today. Im going to go ice my marbles and take a nap.
Those seats look like they're in nice shape. Usually the old ones have the bolsters ripped to shreds. Good find!
Is that the most bitchin set of transfer punches ive ever seen next to the gauges? I need a darn shop
