I wonder how that stacks up to a Z06.
$32k? Erm.... No thanks. Would rather build for half that.

Here's one for $20k with a turbo.
I agree the price is steep but that looks like a very clean install. I bet that when it sells it will be around 25k
First time I saw that one it said it was being built for the One Lap. Then I saw it for sale for $60k. Then $40K. Now this.
Since we're on the subject of silly Mazdas... Here's some more LSx Turbo Mazda content:

It is in excess of 700 HP and TQ.
And some ill-advised content: LSx (kindof) SW20 MR2.

that's not just any rx8, its an R3.
O.O
I really want to do that (RX-8 w/ LSx) as a project some day.
Listed for $39k. Only one engine shot. There isn't a kit out for this swap yet, correct? So lots of custom fab work to get that in there and working, plus all the wiring, plus the FAST102, etc, etc.
I'd wager it'd be hard to duplicate the car at close to the asking price unless you're a very good fabricator and can do all the work yourself. Then you have to assign a value to your labor costs.
While you could build an LS 951, for less than I have into mine, it wouldn't be built like mine. To build MY car would cost quite a bit more....
Every company that had a "kit" in the works always seems to stop releasing info about a month after they get the motor in place... :(

I think the main hurdle at the moment (and probably forever) is the lack of support for the Mazda Canbus. According to a guy that has one of the less than reliable looking kits, you can run the car without the stock ECU attached to the engine and only lose traction control, the battery light and one other fairly minor thing. This makes me think that you throw all that away and run custom gauges.
In reply to singleslammer:
Yea. In the EV conversion community there is a guy doing the canbus signals for the rx8.
Also found this guy.
