Lol true. I honestly wish I had money to buy this car.
I seriously wish I'd bought this instead of the Boxster S.
what an amazing family hauler this would be.
I suppose this car is ready for the infamous BMW 100k miles cooling system replacement, especially since the rad is already leaking.
Correct, not sure on parts, but 100,000 miles is the number and if it has been sitting for a while that's going to contribute.
Timing chain would probably n eed to be done as well.
From what I understand, it has only been sitting since spring. It was registered as late as last year.
I am not fully conversant on BMW V8s, but I did note that the thermostat housing is metal, not plastic like some of the sixes.
Just food for thought.
What was once thought of as a larger family car in my opinion is actually not that big and feels fairly nimble.
The e39 wheelbase and Alfa Giula have the same wheelbase of 111" - same as the 2 door M4
New M5 is 117" and Dodge Charger is 120"
A white car with a tan interior is less of an oven during the summer down here in the South.
As with any older car purchase, it comes down to rust. The Northern "not very rusty" and the Southern "completely ruined" are very close to each other.

Thia car is cleaner than the car I bought a couple years ago that lived its its whole life in Alabama. Given the low mileage for its age and the cleanliness, I assume it was only driven six months of the year.
I would post photos, but the car is no longer here.

Yes. If we had room to store it, well, it'd be mine and the Volvo would be for sale in the spring.
I've driven a 540i/6, and it's a pretty compelling car. They bottomed out a while ago and are going up.
Sorry, can't seem to find my post about this yesterday, but I'm very interested if this is still for sale.
... like 'I've got Expedia open searching for a one way flight to Cleveland' interested...

I... er.... left my tablet at work, and GRM messages get sent to my tablet's e-mail address, if you sent one.
But that's irrelevant, since I don't have access to customer information, so I would have to wait until Monday to get you in contact with the owner anyway. I will, however, make that a priority.

No worries, just got a little overexcited. Been looking for a 6mt e39 for a long time! I actually am not even sure what email address I have on file with GRM, so if you'd like just send any info to paul at backyardbrewerynh dot com.
Thanks again.
BUMP.
no longer for sale
Thanks Knurled, like, a freaking lot! Hoping to pick it up Saturday if you're around as a thank you- I'll buy you lunch or a beer or both!

Awesome!
I'll be at the shop on Saturday either putting a friend's Jetta together or doing some pre-winter servicing on my car, so maybe.
I always like when the good ones stay in the GRM family. That way they can get passed around like a slutty friend once they are a little rough worn in. That didn't come out quite right but you know what I mean.

Right in the feels, man.
But seriously, this will have been the 3rd GRM car I've "purchased" (one was bought for a bottle of whiskey). I still to this day regret selling one (divorce forced me to sell a cherry NB Miata), while the second one is still being lapped in lemons in all of its crappy E30 318i glory.
Both cars have given me copious joy and memories and absolutely zero regrets. My 10 year old, to this day, still insists he wants a Miata when he turns 16. You can't put a price on that...
What I'm trying to say is... I may not post often, but this forum is awesome. I've come and gone through A LOT of automotive forums over my admittedly too many years and times playing with cars, but this is the only one constant I keep returning to just to lurk and laugh and learn.

Wait...that e30 is still alive!? That's the best news I've gotten all month.
YUP. Technically I don't own it anymore, but I pay into a lemons trust with the guy that does, so...? I'll send you a pic! Still the original, awful, hideously slow stock motor and everything.
You'll need to log in to post.
