I was curious cause when I started learning wrenching there was a Europa at the guy's shop that was teaching me (frenchyd would've liked this guy, Jags and other English stuff all over) and thought it would be wild if this was the same one. Thats a very slim possibility though. That one was beaten down but 90% complete.

Hey guys...
I didn't say anything about finishing it for THIS YEAR'S Challenge! Nobody can do that!
I could make it... it be slower than a yugo, and I don’t know enough about passing safety rules, but, it could roll to the starting line under its own power.
Where is the guy who puts lawn mower engines in cars? This one is probably light enough.

This one could be put back to original but you would have much more than $2,000 in it by the time you are done. It would probably cost at least $2,500 to find and ship a windshield for it. And you still have to find an engine, a transaxle and all the rear suspension parts. It's kind of like a life sized model kit with parts missing and no instructions.
In reply to Snowdoggie :
A windshield was about $700 when I bought one for mine about 7-years ago. The trouble is they only ship a batch of them over from England every few years & when they run out you just have to wait until more get sent over.
They would ship me one from England for $2,500.
But I think a Challenge build would involve plexiglass and duct tape.
Paging Pete, or just Jim, or purple frog... I just need to clean out my shop to make room. I have everything needed except a lift, and I have access to fork lifts! I want to put t motorcycle engine in this ... only one I have on hand is a BMW K75 - 750cc, water cooled, 75 hp. But such a tidy package! Parts bike only worth about $500, so budget hit is small
we could field a half budget slow lotus, with cool points...and a Avalon cart, with a big enough team!
the K75 is such an understressed engine, chem. boost would be survivable!
I’ll also need to finish the bathroom in the shop, since my wife will throw me out... but for this opportunity...
In reply to 03Panther :
You're close enough I could make it over there at least occasionally to help out, though probably only once every month or 2. I could possibly bring "homework" back here to work on between those times though?
In reply to Pete Gossett (Forum Supporter) :
Thanks. Mostly, the help I need getting going is the cash for the Avalon, and a teammate that wanted to take it home to build it. Although I have the room to cut it up here, outdoors, or under a carport! A gentelman with a K75 I almost traded for may want to trade the bike and some cash for my FL50 Custom... I could prolly talk the financial planner into letting me use a bit of that money, but don't know when/if that will happen.
I get my "Pete's" confused. One of you offered me a ride to the event? I'm gonna start a thread in projects for my side of this, and hijack the O.P. less!
In reply to 03Panther :
That was me that offered a ride to the Challenge.
Unfortunately a lack of space was one of the main reasons I passed on dragging the Europa home myself. I'd seriously have to figure out how to put it on its side behind my shed, and not knowing when I might actually have room to work on it, I'm afraid it would get damaged/deteriorate further from exposure to the elements.
In reply to Pete Gossett (Forum Supporter) :
The other Pete lives in between you and me, I think?
I have PLENTY of room for the body in the overhead of my shop! Working on it, I need a organizing specialist to figure out where to put all the stuff in the shop. My wife helped some in the spring, but it got too hot... and she wants me to throw too much away! Anybody want a old school mortising machine? I bring some stuff in the house if I have to! But we have it mighty full already.
Did this find a new home yet ?
I’m trying!!! I’m trying!!!
i haven’t had the chance to talk and nail down anything, and cash talks, so someone could still beat me to it, but I’m moving fwd as if me and Pete are gonna do this!
ive been having trouble making myself get movated enough to do all the wrenching and fabing I should be, but this is the kick in the pants I’ve been needing!
I am very probably, reluctantly, and mistakenly going to take this on

I feel this in my soul, and anxiously await our battle

When are you going to retrieve? Id love to meet up with you and svrex and grab lunch and see what i voluntarily passed on.
Paging Pete, or just Jim, or purple frog...
I want to do an Europa in the same style as my Outlaw Bug, but my budget would far exceed Challenge constraints. (tube chassis, street legal, etc.)
When I read the opening parameters for this shell, i just opted out.
Hi guys:
I haven't been ignoring you. I'm talking with five different people right now, all with minor variations.

Please rate your reaction to the above 3 statements on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being strongly agree 2 being agree 3 being indifferent 4 being disagree and 5 being strongly disagree
The rest of the poll doesn't matter.
Ok, so here's the run-down...
- Builder #1 wanted the Europa, but not the Avalon
- A long time GRMer wanted both cars, but he was gonna bring the Avalon to the Challenge and restore the Europa
- Mr Joshua had an interest in the Avalon, and would have facilitated the Europa for someone else
- 03 Panther put together a neat partnership with Pete Gossett and Purple Frog, but there were a lot of logistical pieces
and...
Maschinenbau made me an offer of $700 plus $200 to transport. He is the reigning Challenge Champion, has created the Datsaniti and the Rice Rod, has engineering ability and grassroots prowess, has a similar vision as I did for the car, AND is close enough to my beaten path in ATL that I may still be able to work on it sometimes with him!
The Avalon MAY make it this year as a last-minute Challenger death cart!
Please pray for him! He will need it!!
Thanks guys! This has been great fun!!

It couldn't have gone to a better person. I just want to call dibs on it when he's finished!
I agee. Went to the best home! Pete and I will still be interested when he's done having fun with it!
I offered my Lotus project free without any strings to whoever got the GRM Free Europa. Travis has dibs and I've contacted him. He wants to see what he gets from Paul first. Would anyone like to get in line behind him?
