I was really looking for a miata, but I need a backseat.

I've found several 328ic's w/manual trans in the 5-6K range. Reasonable miles too (110k-130k).

What should I be looking for on these cars as problem areas?

Should I skip the vert and just get a coupe?

I've got around 6k to spend, so I don't quite have the cash for a good condition M3, that I can find anyway.

I'm open to other suggestions as well. Love the miata, just need a backseat for occasional baby seat use.

Your basic E36 issues apply... with the added compexities of a power folding roof...

I would go for the coupe, the convertible chassis is quite floppy and terrible whereas the coupe/sedan has an excellent rigid feel.

325 intake manifold with an adaptor for your TB, a remap, and you are at e36 M3 power levels... the 328 and US m3 were choked down at the intake..

This is my opinion: If I'm gonna have a convertible (thats not a miata) it isn't going to be the greatest car performance wise. Why not go with the 318? Excellent engine, pretty good MPG (our E30 318 vert' can get 30 without much effort), and its a pretty damn good cruiser, at least for me.

Otherwise go coupe.

I'll get rid of the "C", and try and find a IS then

My e28 is being picked up by the new owner tomorrow, so I'm looking far and wide now for a fun car....
