As a South Texan I am amused by others' 'occasional' heat suffering. We've had 60-90 days straight of 100+ degree days.
Here's a list of cities in Texas from 2011. Some of those records may have been broken since then but i'm too lazy to research that.

High 80s, low 90s, low humidity and sunny for the next five days.
Last week I threw a quilt back on the bed ,,,,
I love cooler weather and managed to make the most of it.
I unlocked the shop at 7:15.
Installed a trailer hitch and changed the rear brake pads on the Crown Vic.
Then I pulled the sandblasting gear out and finished blasting the exterior of SanFord.
12 hours later I locked up the shop. I'm beat, but it was a great day!
I spent most of the day stripping paint off the front door. Ended up making three trips to the store to get stuff. Another berkeleying spray can plugged up after spraying about 15 secs. So it should have been four trips. But the weather was delightful.
We are squarely in the 95+ temperature for a high till September. It was all good. Getting out and biking 30-40 miles in this makes you stronger when it's cool, right?

We were in Galveston last weekend and berkeley that humidity. We live only three hours up the road but the difference in humidity is tremendous. If we had that here I would move without a doubt.

In SoCal we're entering our first heatwave, 80s at the beach to 110+ in the desert. Glad I installed a mini split air conditioner. Mini splits are widely used in other parts of the world but are only now entering the market in the US. Because of that, many AC techs charge out to wazoo for installation.
I don't get that, either. HVAC techs are resistant to change. I've never stayed anywhere outside the US and NOT had a mini-split AC unit...If I had AC at all.
