I take offense. The LT1 Caprices were down right tasty. They will walk a Crown Vic. Besides, black it out and add 17'' wheels and you have an Impala SS. But I agree, try finding one that's not haggard these days...

There was a detective in my neighborhood when I was younger that had a brown Caprice. It was hopped up a bit more than your usual cruiser. That LT1 really growled.

I think you'd have to adopt my kids too...they love that car. I'm going for layers of automotive coverage. I need to be at least two-deep at any time. The Wagon is just too reliable to give up ;).

I guess it's off to the web to see about catera swaps...

The other deal I came across last night was a no-engine, no-title pinto. Setup for a SBF already...

Hmmmm, Clem

A 4.8 would be a better swap for the catera than an SBC. Probab ly cheaper, and able to be done alot more nicely. The distributor and carb/aircleaner on a regular small block take up alot of room, and EFI isnt easily doable if you want to make decent power.

you can get 4.8 LSx based truck motors for $150-200 with under 100k miles from lkqonline on ebay.

Would a 5.3 be a god swap for a catera.

Suppose someone would like to make one a challenge car....cheapest and easiest motor and tranny combo?

I see these going for under $700 all the time. Almost always engines that go bust or funky trannys. What a shame....nice cars.

4.8 or 5.3 are the same dimensions and look the same, 4.8's are cheaper

i was eyeing up a $1000 catera with blown headgaskets on CL but i do not need more projects. if anything i am behind on schedule.

As someone who just traded an 04 GTO for a 98 M3 sedan I can definately say the M3 is a far better car. I picked it up for under $6000.

Only if you get the Catera for free and put in a 5.3 HO (330 hp aluminum block/forged crank vs 275 hp cast iron bloc, cast crank 4.8). The GTO was a numb driver with no feel or driving experience so be prepared for the same thing in the Catera.
