Planning a turbo fuel injection conversion on my old Shovey inline-6. In the process I would like to build a plenum and runner intake manifold.
So...
Throttle body: how big is too big? I'm looking (seriously right now) at an 85mm Q45 throttle body, is this "too big"? What is the criteria and what are the down sides to "poor selection"? (I need to buy it now while I might have access to a junkyard if it's a possibility because the wife is in a good mood, and it'll be at least a year before my next possible junkyard access)
The rest: is there a book? because I could make this thread longer than the hotlink thread with all the questions swirling around my head.
In short: What do I need to know?
Check out some turbo books. I have Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and I seem to recall a chapter on sizing a intake manifold.
This could help:
Intake Runner and Peak Torque Calculator

"Maximum Boost" came pretty highly recommended in my "Inline-6 Power Manual" so it looks like it's going in the amazon cart.
according to the calculator provided it looks like the optimum runner length for my engine is 21" and the intake runner area is going to be close to 2 sq in.
Groovy. Now to figure out the plenum.
After the initial excitement of seeing a throttle body I could fit a fist through has wore off, I'm thinking I should keep looking for something a bit "smaller".
Good times.
With forced induction application you can get away with smaller diameter ports and TBs because you are compressing the air, which will also grant higher air velocity and better reponse/tq.

Don't, it's a dated and lousy book.
Street turbocharging is better
I'll add both books
I googled "FIS6 split six" but came up with weird results. mostly video game stuff, just "split six" had videos with "split six exhausts". Did you have a link to help point me in the right direction?
Good times.

Not "Split 6" "SPIT 6"
Can't post a direct link... Long story...
ah, that's embarrassing...
found the goods. That's one awesome Triumph
