Is that an engineless Probe I see in your back yard :)

Honestly... i don't see an advantage of these things over a 2nd gen Escort GT, other than it's newer...
Still fairly cool though.

I agree with you and I own one.
My next door neighbor has a white 91 EGT. If it was a manual trans I'd covet it.

I've spent quite a bit of time in escorts, and the third gen is just a nice place to spend time. Right now I have a 164000 mile rust free 1994 wagon, that was treated pretty well, and a rusty, pizza delivery beat to heck 1997 wagon. Both optioned similarly, both 5 speeds. The 1997 is just a lot nicer, quieter on the road. Even the hvac fan is much quieter. The interior panels are luxurious, compared to the 1994. It's a heckova alot quicker, even being heavier. I'd love a second gen gt, but all the second gens around here seem to be rotting away. My 1994 with a probe drivetrain would be awesomer though...

The 3rd gen is faster? I guess that 10% that the S/R got must have made a bigger difference than i thought. I've driven a 3rd gen ZX2, and it didn't feel near as quick as my EGT.
If you like your 94 with a Probe drivetrain, stay tuned.
My BP burns oil and has like 270k miles on it. I'm going to tear it out before it explodes and dump a KLZE in it.
The third gen wagon is (or at least feels) alot quicker than a second gen wagon. The gt / zx2... I don't know about that.

Oh. Yeah. Because it IS a lot quicker. The 1.9 in the 2nd gens is a major turd. 88hp to the crank when new FTW!
I have owned an EGT and now a ZX2SR. Both cars have a lot of similarity under the skin. Many ZX2 enthusiasts hunt the jy's for the rear discs from the EGT. The ZX2 seems to have more after market than the EGT. Maybe because it is newer.

Yeah, 88hp of fury! But it does ok. I think the 2.0 is 110. The 1.9 gets me out into traffic, and cam maintan an extra-freeway speed, so it works.

In a 3rd gen? I'm really impressed by that, actually....
But the limiter... well, score one for the EGT on that. I know for a fact it'll go faster than 105. Not sure HOW i know, but i do. Just sayin'.

Is that the one where you measure power instead of traction? Why do you hate highway races? Does your vision blur out like fast-and-furious if you race over 70 mph?
I recently had a young fellow trying to impress his girl friend and goad me into a race on th Northway. I just ignored him. He was driving a VW Cabriolet, not old not new. Anyway my frameless windows tend to leave the seals at 124 mph. The troopers were busy also.
I have been looking for a zx2 myself..of course, finding an s/r would be a bonus. But the 88hp of fury is a bit off! A fully loaded 95 got 71hp to the wheels while my 91 Pony got 99hp to the wheels. Both were stock except for a K&N and synthetic in the 95. Of course the pony does not have air or power steering and was at 280,000 miles. I was a bit surprised1
A friends zx4 was....well..civilized.

the 88 hp number is what is usually quoted on websites and such. Who knows if it is valid...

I would expect the 71whp... i would not expect the 99whp out of the same motor....
berkeley ken block he is a dumb selfish trader and made a big mistake joining those loosers at ford!
That 88 or what ever horsepower does not apply to the SR. The stock ZX2 is rated 130 hp and the SR,with a reprogramed ECU is rated at 143. App 10 more are easily obtainable with bolt ons.

Would a KL03 powered escort really be an upgrade over just having a running probe??? My friend had a probe back in the day and that car was a hoot. Especialy once he blew the engine and swapped in a KLZE.

Your post is ironical.

Save for the weight, no. I just REALLY like doing more work than necessary.

Well the weight is what would make it... A KL Escort is way faster than you would think.
A KLDE/03 Escort should have no problems keeping up with or taking down a KLZE Probe.
