Sadly the whiteblocks do seem to crush the cylinders over time and cause a leaky head gasket that can only be fixed by decking the block.

Only if you stretch the definition by buying an R...

The 2.4 block I bought was sunk .004". I had it decked, it is currently sitting pickled and bagged in storage.

It WOULD be nice if Volvo made a smaller car.  Like the original S40 but made in Sweden by Volvo standards, not in the Netherlands by Mitsubishi standards.

A Lotus Elise with a sedan body (lightweight) with Rolls Royce quiet inside and 76 Caddy AC.

As long as we're on Caddy parts, the horn WILL be 1970´s Cad.  The most forceful electric horn I've ever heard.  Pretty sure it's a dual horn.  Big Fords had some stout horns too.  I've been toying with trying to integrate one into my BMW motorcycle but haven't worked out the CAN bus interface yet.

Stuck behind somebody going far too slow last week I told PW that I wanted to put a relay and 4 of those Cadillac horns under the hood the Spark. I might just do it

Of all the cars I've owned and driven over the last 30 years, the best all-rounder was probably my Lancer Evolution VIII.  But the Evo V and VI were even better.

The Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition I drove was "peak Evo." Practical 4-door sedan with excellent ergonomics and visibility: not huge/bulbous with mail-slot windows like modern sedans. Truly exceptional AWD system: all the grip you want with zero understeer. Powerful brakes. Explosive power delivery with just enough lag to remind you it's a 2L turbo, but not so much to frustrate you. Endlessly customizable, should you choose to do so. Bulletproof drivetrain, provided that you flush the fluids (especially AYC unit) regularly. Feels special, but not ridiculous like a supercar.

All that, and not particularly expensive to buy when new. I paid $28,500 for my VIII from the local Mitsubishi dealership back in 2003. Used ones sell for more than that almost 20 years later, so I guess they held they value well enough.

At this point, i'd make some kind of all-electric locost but the body would be built to maximize aerodynamics. That's the general "fun" car.

For something burning gas... I want a muscle car body but a Lexus or Audi-like interior. Aisin manual trans. RWD. Cam-in-block V8, I want it to drop property values wherever it's parked.

It was a quad horn, not even a dual. Trying to find one now.
