Then in next week for the updated thread "Lured into a Dodge Van again".
In reply to Wally:
You know, if Fiat wasn't involved, I probably wouldn't have looked at them. I'm not a fan of Dodge.
I just read that and realized how bizarre it sounded. Never mind.
Over all build quality looks good. With the 100K warranty, longevity should be pretty good. The Europeans have voted the Doblo, van of the year, three times. I'll give them a try. My only concern is the 9 speed transmission.
I'll let y'all know what happens.

That's a bit of a concern for me, as mine will see a lot of time with a F500 behind it. Right on their website Dodge is pimping the towing ability, though. And, yeah, it's marketing speak, but usually when stuff ins't up to par they find a way to conveniently omit it from the literature. At any rate, I figure it's Dodge's problem for 50,000 miles, and I won't be operating outside of the design parameters, so that legendary Dodge quality, multiplied by that legendary Fiat quality (with a little dash of that legendary Turkish build quality) should keep things golden.
They are showing a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty on their website. That will get me through the first 3 years and if it lasts that long, it'll probably last forever. If it doesn't, Dodge fixes it and I buy another vehicle, that will hold up.

Yes, what could possibly go wrong with that combination? So when do you actually pick it up JG?
In reply to JG Pasterjak:
Yeah, you can spend stupid amounts of money on the interior of a cargo van.
In reply to JG Pasterjak:
Hmm...I'm really drawn to the Grand Caravan(for a number of reasons), but the Promaster Wagon SLT is intriguing. I'm curious to see what your real-world MPG will be.

If not GWAR, then I have to vote for Maiden:

I recently picked up a 77 Custom van that needs paint. Initially I was going to do a Mystery Machine, but now I'm not so sure!

Sounds like a recipe to create a blackhole of recalls from which said van never escapes.
Godspeed J.G, godspeed

Believe me, I know that on paper there are some definite red flags. Let he who has never purchased a car with his heart more than his head throw the first rod.
Murals are the way to go. I've had a soft spot for custom vans ever since I was conceived in one behind a roller derby. The 70s were quite a time from what I've been told.
I vote we start coming up with names for this van.. Bad bad seventies custom van names.
I choose: "Kitty Snatcher"
In reply to JG Pasterjak:
I thought for sure buying a Fiat would be a mistake but my wife fell in love with it. So far it's been 65,000 miles with surprisingly little trouble.
In reply to nocones:
'The Candy Van' or 'The Candy Man' I can't decide which I like best.
My old Metallic brown and gold Econoline E150 with matching brown and beige velour interior was called 'the Econolodge'
