Been trying to get some measurements off the M52 or S52 engine, and with the COVID-19 restrictions, it's harder to go out and find a car to check. I'm trying to find either the distance from the cam sensor flange to the trigger wheel, or the sensor gap measurement between the sensor tip and trigger wheel. It looks like you could get the former with a depth micrometer or calipers, or the latter if you can poke a feeler gauge in there with the valve cover off.

Trying to solve a few mysteries about how this sensor works on a test bench.

Update - I had someone else come up with what looks like a 1 mm sensor gap about while I was posting this.

From my old BMW days it's was always "Use a credit card, that will be the right gap."
