Now here is something interesting - a fiberglass kit car made to resemble a Jaguar E-Type. Is has all Volvo running bits - 240 series bits I believe. The engine and gearbox was missing from this example. The doors and trunk lid were also missing. The frame was rather beefy and a bit crude but the body was done quite nicely. I'd never heard of an E-Type replica. A few web searches show some Jaguar XJ based ones but they look rather nicer than this one probably every was.

The blocky Volvo wheel doesn't really fit ...

A live rear axle!

I believe the tires were all spare tires from the Volvo 240 series.

Anyone have any information on it? It looks like to me it was once on the road but got rather neglected.

Looks like it would be cool with the 850 turbo placed longitudinal with a 5 speed.

A Volvo based Jag 'replica'. So where in the pantheon of GRM awesome does that rate vis-à-vis the Merc diesel engined Miata?

This one seems to be a replica of a series 2 instead of the other which are series 1 replicas.

There were a couple of companies in England making replica kits for the E type. I think one was called the Wild Cat. I believe it was distributed in the US for awhile. The other name escapes me.

I probably have to turn in my GRM card, but that does nothing for me.

The red color on that thing stands out so much it looks photoshopped.

I didn't. I already have a Honda S600 roadster in roughly the same (or maybe worse) shape. I did try to buy a '66 Vauxhall Victor but the rear wheels were locked solid.

So would that be a reliable E-type?

IF that car were mostly complete and not a basket case, i would like it.
