That's to discourage people from registering a car that has zero chance of being ready, then people showing up with their 16 second family SUV's, tow vehicles or commuter cars.  They're trying to have the spots filled with drag racers racing drag cars.  That being said, I ran last year and averaged 10.7x for the week and there were plenty of cars that were slower than me.

Well why don't they say that in the first place? I can run 12's with my registered car and could be the first last finisher in the stick shift class. Only thing I have to add is a driveshaft loop to run to 10.99.

Hot Rod Drag Week 2022 rules went up today, and Drag Week is also instituting the rule about timeslips with a reaction time greater than 1 second cannot be turned in.
