This car hasn't been on the road sicne '94
Ahh, so i was a decade optimistic.. my longest-dead project only goes back to 98!
Yesterday, I went out and checked the pressure pods on the distributor as the suggestion of a member of the Yahoo BiturboZentrum group. The diaphragms did not leak and they did actuate.
On the way home, I was surprised that the stumble is gone. I think the advance mechanism was jammed.
The AMAL valve (boost controller) is leaking internally and the bushings on the hood springs disintegrated.
But such is life. The car has been off the road basically since '94.
Can you replace this AMAL valve with some sort of aftermarket boost controller like a Greddy unit or similar? It sounds like you're enjoying life with the Biturbo.

I can, but the Amal valve is controlled by the MABC (similar to Saab APC) which pulls boost when it senses knock, so I'd like to keep it. I'll try to find one from a Saab 900 this weekend.
I couldn't resist. I disconnected the wastegate line to make sure the AMAL valve was the issue. She immediately went up to ~12 psi.
