Genesis just revealed its X convertible concept. Could this be the start of a trend? What about an electrified Miata? Mini already has the SE, so what about a top-down version? GM hopes to go all-electric by 2035, could that include a Corvette EV convertible?
What are your thoughts? Is there an EV convertible that you would like to …

This isn't exactly on assignment, but I miss those half-convertible little runabouts we saw back in the 1990s like the Geo Tracker. Toyota even made a cute 2-door convertible Rav4. I think a small SUV runabout with a cloth rear top would make a fun EV.
An EV Porsche Boxster would be pretty cool.

Kinda very much along those lines:
Is Now the Time for an Electric 914?

Your dream exists, see my thread about the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Jeep is bringing a full on EV to the market ASAP. Only downside is the 4xe is only available in 4 door unlimited trim currently.
I don't really think "EV" is a thing here. Do you want to see more convertibles?
I'm going to say that BMW will likely take the lead here with 3 series (or whatever they call the 3 series these days, I've lost track) convertibles.

Agreed, I think the point is we are missing cars that have soul. I don't know of anyone with an EV that only takes theirs out on weekends and to cruise-ins. A car that isn't an appliance that the masses can afford and enjoy is what we all need.
I have taken cars down to the bare frame, and have never found the soul module. I have found many flaws and bad engineering and physics problems, is that what I should be looking for? Is the soul the thing that makes it run badly until it's warm? Or is it the constant need for maintenance?
I don't take any of my cars only out on weekends and cruise-ins, and no matter how you define vehicular soul I'll bet I have one that has "it".

I can't think of a single vehicle that wouldn't be improved with a convertible or targa top. So I'll go with "all of them" as the answer to the question.
Edit: Wait. Diesel smells bad. So maybe no diesel convertibles? Not sold on that though, I can deal with it.
E-MR2. Gen 4 of the MR2/MR-S is a small, 2-seat convertible, but with a useable trunk and frunk this time. Should be easy on an EV platform.
Oh, this has been teased already. OK, so make it less ugly, more practical, and cheaper.

Then by your definition, people don't have a soul organ. Yet there are good, great, and kind people just like an XKE has a soul.A Ferrari Testa Rossa has a soul, An MGTC has a soul. The original Mini Cooper has a soul.
Like people, cars have the same parts, an engine, a chassis, style and etc. Like people have heart, brains, muscles etc.
There are great people. And yes bad people. So people aren't all the same, nor are cars.

I kinda want this already. Not the best-looking front end, but not hideous and you can't see that while driving. I'm already trading positions with a Mini Cooper SE in autocross, if they make this in AWD it will be really hard to resist...
Edit: This as an AWD EV with insurance-reducer/cargo-expander rear seats would be like Toyota producing my dream car.

An individual wheel-motor EV Samurai soft top would be hard to resist and even harder for an obstacle to stop, bonus points for range-extender generator option...

Why do I want to LS-swap it? Wait, that goes against the nature of this thread. Carry on!
Tesla nailed it about 10 years ago. They just need to start making them again.

First of all Keith how dare you post that Murano cabrio!
As to the Jeep 4xe, it's just far, far too big for anything I'd drive around that doesn't have sliding doors. I want something compact enough to park in the city, with space for the kids and some beach stuff, and the ability to get a bit of open air motoring experience. A Samurai or Rav4-sized thing would be fantastic
^Not to mention that short wheelbase is the best thing ever for obstacle-clearing capability. There was actually a RAV4 EV with NiMH batteries produced in very small numbers...

That was what I thought too when I saw the thread title. Bring on the big American cruiser boat convertible!
I'd like to see a Komatsu Honda PC 01E in my garage
