Man I was hoping for turbo's. 600+ hp is just a pulley and tune away on the current motor, and 700-800 is just a few grand.
Turbo's coming. Be patient.
It should be @ 600hp out of the box. Pulley and tune is knocking on 700hp.

Yessir. They said they were trying to do that. The old displacements are magic numbers in people's heads. 302, 351, 396, 408, 427, 454, 460, blah blah blah.
As for the weight, it shouldn't be much heavier, if any, than the 5.0 Coyote. The only real added weight is the supercharger and intercooler/intake.
Why is it a UAW, Ford agreement for the Shelby to get the 5.8?
What's the UAW got to do with it? The UAW has to agree or Ford can't build it? How screwed up is that!

HUH? What rock have I been hiding under?

You mean like how Ford pulled an ad with a guy saying he bought a ford because they didn't take the bailout, because the Fed was pressuring them to?

Other way around. They've been the ones hiding under rocks.
You wouldn't believe how many people come to my dealership every day and mention the main reason they bought new Fords is because of the bailout. It's an extremely hot topic around here.
It seems the modus operandi of Ford lately on the Mustangs is not to really max out the power on the engines in factory trim. They rely on the aftermarket to do that. I assume they're trying to run the motors at 7/10ths for durability/warranty/mileage. But when 7/10ths is 600 HP...damn...

Check out the cool new Track Apps for the gauge display...
It's pretty awesome working for a Ford dealership. I've kinda known about this stuff for a little while. I say KINDA known because it's been more conjecture through the Ford message boards with tidbits of real info coming through. Keep an eye out for an EcoBoost Mustang in the near future.
sounds like the UAW's involvement was negotiations w/ Ford for further investment in US facilities including the Romeo Engine Plant retooling to build the 5.8L
everyone forgets that Ford invented the idea of the bailout- they were the first car company to go to congress to beg for money.. this was a year or so before GM and Chrysler. they were told that it's not the government's job to keep them in business.. that's why they sold off so many assets and got rid of so many people over the last few years.. then GM came along- with Chrysler along for the ride- looking to get money because if they went down, the whole economy was going to go down with it. which is debatable, but that's now it played out.
