I talk to people from all over the world on a daily basis, so that part of my job is interesting. We tend to see things by our viewpoint only, but people in those affected regions tend to see things differently. Since Iraq, we have totally screwed the middle east. It's funny how we in the United States tend to see everything in Dems vs. Repubs, but the rest of the world couldn't care less. We may not always agree with what form of government they choose, but I do not believe it is up to us to choose for them if we do not like it. Sure some of it we term evil, but who is say which form of evil is worse.

I'm pretty sure that I could say without much hesitation that any government that is willing to use chemical weapons on its own people (allegedly) is in fact pretty evil.

Our continued willingness to engage in war for profit is very troubling and short sighted at best. Which I believe is what the whole middle East meddling has been about. I certainly don't have any answers but it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see our involvement has done zero good for anyone except a few companies that profit on destruction.

If we do nothing we are letting murderous dictators gas innocent people and WHY didn't we help?

If we do something it's because we only got involved to be baby killers who are foreign occupiers only their for oil.

Either way we are hated and likely whoever ends up in charge will be burning our flag after 2 years anyway. I say we save our money for that reason alone. Not because I'm a pacifist but because I don't think it's a good value.

Not sure if that makes me a terrible person but after 16 years straight in the ME that's where I'm at.

Nick, I agree except for one thing, we really don't even get the oil. I work in the energy industry and those that we talk to have yet to see any oil or profit beyond what could be gotten by others. Most of the oil in the US comes from within our boarders or South America. I forget the percentage from the middle east, but it is less than you would imagine. So I guess I'm saying we're not smart enough to even take the oil. I would say the weapons manufacturers probably have seen the most profit from it. The middle east is a no-win situation no matter what we do.

Most of our imported oil comes from Canada but we still only import about 25% of the oil we consume. I'ts frustrating living in a HUGE oil state and paying one of the highest fuel costs because we don't refine much here.

Also Nick wasn't mentioning oil. I did but it was only hyperbole basically saying the tired "damned if you do, damned if you don't."

I think he was referring to the Military Industrial Complex making money (which they mostly get from taxpayers of course).

We don't fight and die for our oil. We fight and die for EUROPE's oil.

Well I know of one company that was awarded a $7 billion government contract. I'm pretty sure they were not involved to liberate or out of some kind of national pride. There is a lot of money to be made by certain people from war. Win, lose or draw is irrelevant when there is money to be made. The people, us or them, do not matter.

Just a recent FYI on this:

US intelligence intercepted communications between Syrian military and chemical experts

The US military and intelligence community has intercepted communications featuring Syrian military and chemical experts talking about preparations for the sarin attack in Idlib last week, a senior US official tells CNN.

(alt news mode on) US creates fake intelligence to justify attack on the benevolent society of Mr Assad and to incriminate great merciful Russia (/alt news mode off)

I am still not sure WHY they would make this attack. From what I have seen, they have the rebels (ahem, I mean terrorists) pretty well under control. Perhaps frustrations (get it over with quicker)?

I try to ignore any 'news' story that is based 100% on unnamed sources such as "a senior US official".

That is unsubstantiated rumor not news. The only person mentioned by name in that article is Trump when they quoted him. The rest could just be 100% made up or it could be real. No way to know.

Interesting take, basically "is this a false flag?"

So, here are the two alternatives:

1: Assad really is a crazy evil dude, and he doesn't do things rationally, so this could be because he didn't want Russia close to us diplomatically, because he wanted to test Trump militarily, or because he felt like it. I thinkw e can all agree that Kerry was an awful statesman, and could easily have gotten tricked about the removal of chemical weapons being destroyed, and frankly, Iraq had plenty they could have shipped over anytime after hiding them who knows where.

2: Trump wanted some better poll numbers and needed a fall-guy, and Assad is really an A-OK dude and just keeps getting used for false flags (because at least three administrations are guilty of this if it's true) to make our military and politicians happy, so the CIA whip up some propaganda videos and make some things up, we throw a couple of Tomahawks over there and the job is done.

Which is true? I think #1, though I would say this: It is almost impossible for anyone here to tell for sure. If you believe #2, you simply can place all of the evidence supporting #1 under the "false flag" umbrella. If you believe #1, you can write off all evidence supporting #2 as 'crazy talk', and move on.

I'll add that if #2 is true, there are a whole lot of countries which bought it.

Tomahawks, pffff, whatever…

MOAB Dropped on Afghanistan

Apparently, MOAB’s (casually meaning Mother of All Bombs but technically meaning Massive Ordinance Air Burst) have a one mile kill radius.

What makes them perfect for that particular application is how those suck all the air out of a large area, so even if the blast doesn't kill, or the heat, it can still suffocate people in the caves. Impressive for it's destructive quality.

Humans never cease to amaze me on how effectively we can learn to kill one another.

That's totally a B-side title, if I ever heard one.

Would there be singles in vinyl? Retro cool!
