Now that the thread has taken that turn...
I used to be against the who autonomous driving revolution thing because I like driving.
I've reached the point where I can't wait for it to get here now that I'm doing more driving. It seems like 80% of the people on the road would rather be doing anything else than driving their 4000lbs missile and you're inconveniencing them by trying not to be killed.
I've just spent the past weekend driving about 500 miles going back and forth between central Florida and south Florida, mostly up and down I-95. At some times, especially early Sunday morning, going 78 turned out to be the slowest one out there. I saw several going about 100.

never said i was perfect.
racing mistakes? Yea, missed the apex, braked too late, ran out of fuel, turned in a bit too quick and caught the edge of another cars bumper, and wrecking. All of these are done in the name of shaving off tenths of a second, and yes, sometimes it catches up with you.
texting, cruising too slow in the left passing lane, constant tapping of brake pedal, not planning lane changes, driving day and night with high beams on, driving with turn signal on, sitting in the turn lane with part of your car in the travel lane, taking your sweet time accelerating from stop lights, not accelerating properly to merge, and on and on. Nothing to do with being 'perfect', just having respect and consideration for your fellow man, and actually using your brain. These are things we currently know and acknowledge that lead to wrecks (and deaths), traffic jams, stop and go traffic, and wasted time/fuel/money. All things stern punishment could take care of, not hundreds of billions of dollars that otherwise could be used for the health of us and our planet, or reduced gov't subsidies, so more money in my pocket that isn't taken from me and given to someone else, to solve a problem that shouldn't exist.
80 in a 70 is not a problem.

I try very hard to drive well and be considerate. Yet. I know all too often I make a mistake. I’m human.
That’s why when someone makes a mistake I tend to be tolerant and forgiving. However even in that I’m less than perfect.
