I gotta post about this cause I'm mildly wigging out.
We've been prepping a single and double door for UL-10 testing, a 90 minute interval. Passing will mean we have the only fire resistant and floodproof door in the world.
it was a horrible scramble to get it ready but now it is and the testing started about half an hour ago. Everyone in the office has it up on one of their screens watching. Its stressful and I need a distraction, so tell me something cool you are doing at work today.

A flood and fire proof door sounds interesting. I can think of a few projects I've worked on where that might be useful.

The door itself handles the heat beautifully. Its the seals that are a mother.
Does leaving early count as interesting?
Dead slow during the snow storm and I'd rather work on my house.
I'm trying to stay awake. My foreman is gone for the day and both techs in the shop are out. I'm here in parts just hanging out. Aside from music, it's silent.
I've been cross-shopping rangers and focii. Found a cool old big block Lincoln but not for $5k. Not buying, but it never hurts to look.
Trying to build doors that are just reasonably weather-resistant, but the only certifiable part is me.
Sounds like there's a bit of flooding regionally, but mercifully not where I am.
EDIT: Sorry to hear the test failed while I was typing...

Over half of my techs are out, so I'm just walking around. Gonna be a long day.
Sorry to hear the door was not successful

Heck yeah it does. Some days, leaving is the only interesting thing.
I would like to see how you test a fireproof, waterproof door. It sounds fun.

I've posted the quarter-sized test rig we designed before. When I get home I'll write something up.
It is two different tests though.
Helping my 5-year old daughter with her Online School and "working" from home. Mostly just monitoring messages and emails since there isn't much going on due to so many still on vacation. Wife is off today and trying to get the house ready for her Mom to stay with us for a month while managing our 3-year old boy. So her stress level is relatively high.
At least the kids had fun helping me "build" Lola's bed frame. Mostly they screwed things in a little that I started and played with the screw gun trigger and the hand tools. I did have them carry some of the parts upstairs
Next week, new patches come out from Microsoft for the month, we haven't patched for nearly 2 months due to issues with some of the patches, a major outage caused by Dell and routine end of year change freezes. Oh and I'm on-call. It will either be a non-issue with lots of follow up or a complete E36 M3-show with lots of calls. Fingers crossed!
The door project sounds awesome and hopefully you can get the seals sorted.

Ooh! I got to be on a conference call discussing how Commvault uses our new Hitachi object storage.
Maybe I'm playing this game wrong....
In reply to Keith Tanner :
I picture water on one side and fire on the other, if they meet you fail lol.

But you also put out the fire, so maybe you win?
In reply to wae :
Only if you are on team water. If you are on team fire you are the loser.
Brought daughter home early after daycare learned of a positive case in her room, and she had 99.9 fever. Mom and I have tested negative, and she is teething so we're hopeful this is just a teething fever..
I wish that I was at work today. Today's been an x-ray, MRI, CT type day. We're moving into the contrast portion of the program prior to additional imaging now.

Nope.
Every single meeting I was supposed to have this entire week was canceled because of people getting COVID
Complete waste of a week. I'm headed home.
I'm working from home, so in between replying to emails and phone calls, I've been shopping for race car parts all week. Already received 2 packages including a new suit, harness and fire system (among other things)... Next up are new wheels.

Most of the people I work with are in Florida or London. A significant number are out with Covid. I've been Peter Gibbons this week, while working from home.
Toddler has been home with me this week, we're not sure when we're sending her back to daycare with this outbreak.
I've also been reffing at the outdoor rink. Last night was so cold that my beard got pretty frosty from my breath. So that was fun (seriously, it was!)
My wife works in the hospital... It has been interesting for her, for a lot of not-fun reasons.
It was -2dgF this morning and my customer that renders animal fat in the historic Chicago Stockyards area called requesting I emergency rush out some rubber steam hoses.
It's that exciting. You should smell this place in July.
I left early, fun. I had a dentist appt, not fun. Now I am grumpy because I'm not getting anything done...
I should pack my NYG box. Yeah, let's do that!
We try to have "No Fire Fridays" typically doesn't happen. Today is a normal Friday...
Test lab is backed up, testing that should have been done weeks ago is not going well, parts are already on the water. Normal stuff.
