The ones I cared about are gone. The only remaining cool cars are the golden ticket cars. And they won't get voted in

Only thing I'd change on the list is replace the Omni or BMW M6 with a P71, and the other with the 1988 Fiero GT.

Overall, though, it is a good list. I'm very happy that my Starion made it!

there are quite a few cars in the list that I would be willing to jettison, but I am pretty stoked that there is the such a large array of diversity in it.

I was really worried we were going to end up with 5 different options packages for the WRX, evo, and E36 M3

I am actually happy about the omni. I have liked them ever since the GRM article documenting the one preped for the one of the $200X challenges not too long ago.

I maintain that the game still needs a RX-7 GSL-SE and an AW-11 MR2 but they seem to be rolling out the "car packs" like hotcakes so its probably only a matter of time...

I'd love to see about a quarter of the cars that didn't make it too...

The only problem I have with the DeLorean is the engine. With MS/Turn 10 not wanting to swap engines across parent companies, it's kinda doubtful that they'll offer an engine swap for it... Actually, what they should do is offer a Tesla powertrain swap, so that it sounds like the electric motor sounds from BTTF... They should really open this one up to swaps from any company that John Delorean worked for...

Plus, as an added musing... when is any racing game going to offer the fabulous Hudson Hornet?

The El Camino is Jalopnik editors pick. The Volvo 242 is the top vote getter, the DeLorean the second vote getter, and so on down the line. That means that cars Two through Six are on the outside looking in. They are only taking the top nine, along with their editors pick, for a total of ten.

Jalopnik said: Nine of those fifteen (the actual selection may vary, depending on availability of real-world car examples for Turn 10 to scan) will make it into a Jalopnik-branded download pack that will be released this summer

Not quite. The final selection will be 9 cars off that list of 14, but not necessarily the top 9. It depends on which cars Turn 10 can get access to in real life in order to create the models. They basically took a few alternates because they couldn't assure they'd be able to do every car on the list.

The only car in the top nine they MIGHT have trouble with finding is the Lancia, but I doubt it. Which means those cars are alternates, hence, on the outside looking in.

The only cars I am not insanely excited about are the BMW M6 and the Deloran

I lament the loss of the Peugeot 205 T16 and the Grosser Benz. I'm sort of ambivalent about the Delorean, Pantera, and M6. I can see their appeal, but big heavy GT cars are one of those things that work a LOT better in real life than they do in video games. The thrill of barreling down a highway at triple digit speeds doesn't really translate into pixels all that well, and you can't have a digital leggy blonde in the passenger seat either. Meh.

1971 Detomaso Pantera: 3175lbs

1982 Delorean: 2712lbs

1984 BMW M6: 3570 lbs

The M6 is getting up their in weight, but the Pantera and Delorean are hardly what I'd consider heavy. The Escort Cosworth starts at 2800lb and the Mercedes 190E Evolution is 2950lb so these cars aren't that much heavier than the compact performance cars.

IF they treat the Pantera like an Italian exotic with an american motor...as they should..they should offer a Ford NASCAR motor as an upgrade. Think of that horsepower with a lightweight mod as well.

I had no idea the Delorean was that light. considering that the common knock about the car was that the stainless body made it too heavy for its motor. I would have pegged its weight in the 3200 range.

I found one listing online that put it's weight at just over 2300. With a 0-60 time of 10.5 secs. though, your 3200 sounds more likely.
