Don't some aircraft do this for balance of the total load and not overall weight?
On my way back from Edinburgh, Scotland, I had a long enough layover in Atlanta, GA to require collecting my luggage, and spend the night in a hotel by the airport. When I had checked my bag in Edinburgh, they said it's a little heavy, but just slapped a "heavy" sticker on it, and sent me on my way.
Checking the same bag in Atlanta they were going to charge me extra to check a "heavy" bag. I was told I could remove something from my bag. I pulled out one of the small tartan blankets I was bringing home as a gift from the bag, knowing it wouldn't be enough, and placed my bag back on the scale, hanging slightly over the edge. I then placed my foot under the part of the bag hanging over the scale, and lifted up on it until it was "light enough," to not cost extra. Bonus I had a comfy blanket for the flight home.

We seem to have different definitions of "real country". Everybody likes whatever they like, which is cool, but what I'm hearing is the same old patronizing identity pop that Nashville's been cranking out for a few decades now. And it flat breaks my heart.

Oh they delivered it, just not to you. And they don't know who they delivered it to.
I don't know enough about country to know the difference between types. Most everything on the local radio stations is just twangy pop, which I don't like. I do like some country though. Shooter Jennings, Darrel Scott, Cash when he was on American records, sturgil... some country.

Country died when Garth Brooks got so big.
That man was country, but ever after Nashville started chasing the highs that Garth brought in.
If you guys haven't seen Ken Burns' documentary on country music, its phenomenal. Don't binge watch it though, its so much information that it starts to blur.

You might be right. That was probably when radio airplay switched from country music to pop music in a hat. But it's absolutely amazing how much really good country music is still being created right now by genuinely talented artists. There's been threads about it already. Maybe it's time for another one.
And because rules is rules, here's a meme. Extry points (plus one free ear worm for the rest of the afternoon) for anybody who gets it.
I remember when I was a kid my grandmother complained about how Ronnie Milsap was ruining country every time he came on the radio.
In reply to logdog (Forum Supporter) :
I can take or leave Ronnie Milsap but Eddie Rabbitt was the absolute death of mainstream country music.

The pop country is basically gangsta rap with boots and a hat. It's bland tripe about how awesome the neighborhood you grew up in was, how awesome you (the singer, not the listener) are, your ride, your girl, your friend seeing your girl behind your back, several brand name drops in the lyrics, etc, and set over some music that is catchy enough that you don't realize the lyrics are brain poison.
