Skin cancer, parrt two

Went in for my first real procedure yesterday. It seemed to go quite well. No pain, about an hour for the work to be done. Squamous cell carcinoma, about the size of a dime on the side of my nose. The Doc finished and sent in the plastic surgeon. Say what? To fill in the place where the excision was done, she pulled skin over from my face. End result was a horizontal cut across the width of under my eye, and down the side of my nose. 36 tiny stitches. Next came the swelling and the worst black eye I have ever seen. Left eye swollen shut for a day, still bad. Have to go in next week to pull the stitches and have a second procedure. this time for a basal cell carcinoma. Really hoping this one is not quite so dramatic. I have had far worse medical adventures, but never looked so scary. Made my wife take photos, but she refuses to send them out- too gross. Anyway, USE SUN SCREEN!!

“USE SUN SCREEN”…My grandfather had a wedge shaped snip taken out of one of his ears giving him a little bit of a cartoon mangy cat look…hehehe

When I don’t think my daughters are protecting their skin well enough I start in with the old “did I ever tell you about what happened to your great grandpa”. Invariably, they roll their eyes and say “we know…we know”.

I don’t care so long as they slather on enough sunblock.

Glad to hear of positive progress. I almost posted last night inquiring regarding how you were doing.

Same issue runs on my mother's side of the family. She and some others on that side have had similar procedures. I was born with my father's dark skin, thank god...
