Sorry about the link to that crappy rag Rolling Stone:
Apparently Neil Peart of Rush had been battling a brain tumor for several years.

I thought it was supposed to be a Red Barchetta?
Seriously though, this one stings
As a bassist I've come to realize the only reason Geddy is the player he is, is because he had Neil as a drummer.
According to a lot of people who know drumming a lot better than I do, he was the GOAT. RIP, and thanks for the tunes, Neil.
Just watched Tom Sawyer twice- as loud as I could. Thanks, Neil, for sharing your art and talent with us- now I have to set up my drum set again.

For sure, one of them.
Rush was the first concert I ever attended. Exit Stage Left Tour in 1981. RIP, Neil. You will be sorely missed.
berkeley me. I'm a huge Rush fan. I've had a few beers, going to quickly go to something else. Deal with this tomorrow. Oh berkeley.
Edit: Well, that didn't work. My wife just told me. Rush, and Peart (my favorite drummer)... a very personal thing. Dammit. So like Pratt to do that.
Must have been hell on Geddy and Lifeson to have to play along the past few years.
From him losing his family to his family losing him. That's just berkeleyed up.
In reply to Pete Gossett :
Yeah. When I was playing, Neil taught me more about bass than Geddy or near any other bassist. Thanks for the lessons, Professor.

If he was at all with peace with himself and his life, I don't feel bad for him for "this". I'd imagine after losing his daughter and his wife, not to mention the brain cancer, death came as a relief. I feel bad for the fans, friends, and music world in general.

Except, he was a brave guy. After losing everyone he loved, he got married again, and had another daughter. I'm not sure I have the guts to do that.

berkeley yeah. Many a dude practiced his chops religiously. Therefore, we'll never be without him.
RIP to a master craftsman.
I saw it on a news feed and came here to post it. Saw this thread. The guy really got kicked in the gut with his wife, daughter and his own disease. He was one hell of a talented drummer.
