The other morning, I set out a trap of vinegar, sugar, and water, to catch what I thought were just a few drain flies buzzing around the bathrooms. In the 2 minutes that took, one of the little bastards went for my coffee! So I did a test, left my coffee on the counter about a foot from the trap. In an hour, my coffee had 10 little bastards in it and the trap only had 2. This told me a couple things:
they like coffee;
there's more of these little bastards than I thought.
they don't match pix of drain flies or fruit flies. So WTF are they?
I'll go with fungus gnats.
They're caffeine flies, more commonly known as Caffleas. They get into the house through tainted bags of coffee, and hatch when you grind the beans. They multiply like rabbits because they're so juiced on caffeine all they do is berkeley all day.
I have no clue what they are.
Edit for not reading well: you said no to drain flies. This does work for cleaning out drains/helping stop drain flies.
If they are the ones I think they are they lay eggs in the slime in your drains, particularly the garbage disposal. I bought some of the thick bleach based toilet cleaner and the cheapest toilet brush with a base I could find to clean out my garbage disposal and its rubber funnel/drain guard. That seems to help.
They're juvenile murder hornets.
No expert here, but look kinda like fungus gnats to me.
Though I think only one of them can fly.
Phorid flies? I don't think they're fungus gnats unless they swelled up after they died in the water.

We have a winner! I’ll take Phorid flies for $1000, Alex!
I'm foaming all the sink drains with boiling water, dish soap, vinegar, and baking soda. I'm also leaving traps with a mix of vinegar, sugar, water, and dish soap. I might put out another cup of coffee. For science.

Toilet brush. Chemicals don't scrub out the solids.
Does your coffee have cream in it?

Just enough milk to make it cloudy, and a couple teaspoons of brown sugar
